You can also see that he is overconfident. He thinks that since he is so big and cool that he can do whatever he pleases he probably thinks he can do stuff that isn’t even possible for a human to do alone. He also gives off the kind of person to be very aggressive in simple situations or even just being asked a question. A color mentioned that I saw fit for my impression on Tom was red cause when you think of red you think of anger and violence. When you think of Tom I don’t necessarily think of violence but you do think of anger and someone who just is a hothead and would get ticked off or offended just to a little blow to their ego. My impression on Tom is he is a very cocky guy he thinks everyone likes him or at least thinks everyone should like him. He thinks that he is the better man no matter who he is comparing himself to. He feels as if he should be treated like he is special just because it’s him. East egg is described as old money where people that inherited their wealth live in east egg. As in a person like Tom where he inherited most of his wealth. West egg is where people with new money usually live there. New money as in nit money that is inherited but money that is being made at the moment by the person. As in Gatsby I don’t know how Gatsby makes his money because they haven’t said yet but there are many rumors of how he got his wealth as in he got it from a cousin but nothing has been proven. There’s a place called the valley of ashes which is where the poor live it is between west egg and east egg. There are many factories and areas of the sorts that don’t look pleasing to the eye. People that live here are people like Myrtle and George Wilson. New York City is a place where it is always busy. I don’t know anybody that does live in New York City other then the hotel in that Tom owns for his affair which he doesn’t live in but he does go to it frequently. Way some characters change in the different settings are Myrtle when she is the valley of ashes she is very different because George is around but when she goes to New York City she is in more of a happy mood and party kind of mood cause she is with Tom. The significance I find in the way Myrtle is In Valley of ashes she fits the mood there more a dull lady in a dull place but when she is in New York City she is more like a lady wanting to have fun and drink and just have a good time which is what New York City kinda his seen as. The connections between west egg and east egg is just that they’re both very rich areas where people of wealth live in but they’re very different types of people as you can see how Tom is compared to how Nick is. Which in my opinion I think it tells a lot about the difference between west egg and east egg people.

Jordan’s take on car accidents and careless people says she Is very self entitled she thinks the world revolves around her and that everything should be about her. She seems as if she thinks just cause she is rich she is above everybody else and should be treated in that way. It imply that she is upper class and that she has money and she likes to show it off. Social class is represented in the novel when it comes to setting because usually people living in a certain area act a certain way and usually act different ways in different areas. So if u live in a rich area you probably are more cocky and if you live in a poor area you’re probably more humbled and just more down to earth. I would say Myrtle could pass more than one social class because she lives in a poor area but has the rich kind of mentality so she could pass as both

This chapter shows a lot of if’s for Gatsby. The reason I say ifs is because we get introduced to a character named Mr. Wolfsheim who is a guy that has done a very crazy thing which was fixing the World Series. The reason this brings upon a if on Gatsby is that this is a friend of his so the if here is if he has a friend like this what has Gatsby done in his past. I think of him as a mysterious person but this honestly makes him more mysterious but also more of a suspicious character. I’m very interested on finding out more about Gatsbys past because I feel like he has some very interesting stories and also very interesting friends. He basically is saying that the green light is saying that it is his time with Daisy and that he is finally getting what he wants and it is his time to have her. I think that the green light stands it being not just the time for Gatsby to get Daisy but also the time for Daisy to finally go and get out of her toxic relationship with Tom. I think the green light reflects on Gatsby by showing how he has been on go mode he has been tryna get Daisy for awhile and right now he is going for it and is doing things so he can get her to fall for him or at least start developing a crush on him. So I see Gatsby being reflected as the color green cause he is always going for Daisy any chance he gets or at least making attempts to.

The really story is that his family are farmers and not good ones either so he was not born into riches nor did he inherit any money. Gatsbys actions as a young man reveal that he wasn’t a very bright person as you see he dropped out of college after 2 weeks because he didn’t want to do the janitor job which shows he is kinda lazy in that sense of work which is a very bad trait to have in your young life. It seemed like he didn’t have much motivation to become anything at the time but as time goes on it shows that he actually does try in stuff as you can see in his pursuit to getting with daisy and also him joining the military which is a really good thing and shows that he isn’t lazy after all.

The reason I think this is that he is willing to go to major extents to make her is as we have seen many times in the book so far. He also has been hooked up on her since the first time he has met and you don’t stay so committed to one person if you don’t have some sort of love for the person. I don’t think daisy loves gatsby the reason I say this is because she dropped him for Tom who is a horrible person who she only wants because he provides for her lifestyle. I also think that the thing Daisy does love is the concept of being wealthy and cared for and not having to worry which both Tom and Gatsby can provide but that isn’t love. Daisy does not love Tom she loves what Tom provides to her she loves that Tom can protect and feed her money habits. Tom does not love Daisy he just loves how she is his trophy cause he married her that’s all he loves about her. Nick in my eyes doesn’t love anyone he likes people and is unsure about how he feels about others but there isn’t anybody that I think he loves at least not yet. I think Fitzgerald is trying to say that love comes in all shapes and forms as in good love, toxic love, and fake love. so he’s showing all sorts of love and showing how people of different personalities react to that love and show off that love.

Somebody who went after the American dream and achieved it is Gatsby. We know that he came from A poor family and then became the rich man that he was only for the soul reason of his love for daisy. “her voice is full of money” I find this line very interesting and important cause it shows how Gatsby started his pursuit of wealth for daisy as you can tell when he says he hears money in her voice. Where the American Dream led Gatsby is dead. Just the hard truth if he wasn’t so hung up on the idea of him and Daisy being a thing and going after all this wealth for her he never would of died nor would he be able to live his nice lifestyle but he would at least be alive and well. He died because of the American Dream he also died because of Daisy so in a way you can see daisy and the American Dream as the same thing two cruel things that just don’t end well in the long run.

I think The Wolf of Wall Street is related to The Great Gatsby not just because of Leonardo DiCaprio being in both movies, but because both talk about wealth and the American Dream. Only difference is the time the movie and novel take place. Both novels  are about the rich and wealthy and having goals. I also think the song hit and run by Lana del rey relates to The Great Gatsby because the song talks about the high life in New York City which is where the book takes place. She sings about a girl getting picked up by a white lamborghini which just reminds me of Daisy and Gatsby’s relationship. The American Dream is something that has been always talked about outside of the United States especially. The American Dream is trying to become wealthy and make it in life and be able to support yourself with all the things u want in life. Examples of this is how Gatsby throws so much money into his parties just for fun and to have people over to please his own imagination that Daisy will walk in through his doors one day and fall in love with him again. Gatsby also thinks that money can buy happiness and that he can get any girl with his wealthiness to an extent he is correct a lot of women would fall for his money but the happiness could never be achieved through just pure money. This is something that does happen in real life where rich people think that they can treat people a certain way just because of how wealthy they really are. The lifestyle they live also ties in with the American Dream. The lifestyle is something people dream about but don't know what it takes and how those same people act and treat others. One big example of someone in real life who is super wealthy but is a terrible person is Jeffrey Epstien. Epstien was an American Financier, he was rich and had many celebrity friends. Then boom his whole world collapses when he gets caught for being a sex offender and a pedophile. I cannot say that I can relate to the main topic of the novel because I do not live or have the same lifestyle that Gatsby has. I can relate with the friendship problems and drama that occurred between the characters because with most friendships disagreements will happen, but I have never had moments in my life where I had to cut people off because of problems that have occurred between me and them. I can relate to Gatsby on his dream to become wealthy but I would be doing it for myself not to impress some girl that doesn’t care about me . The way Gatsby was to people was very kind, it showed because he really let anybody use him. I feel like this novel's goal was to show that you should always be grateful for family and friends. People would also use Gatsby for his extravagant house and I have seen others do that with people who attend Claremont High School.  People will throw parties often but no one would really ever talk to socialize with them they just came for the party just like how in the book people did to Gatsby.
