One the pro-gun side, the argument of a few "bad apples" tarnishing the reputation of gun owners everywhere arises, with mostly anecdotal evidence to say that the vast majority of gun owners would not commit the atrocities we've been seeing in recent years.

On  the other side of the aisle, people who are all for reducing the amount of guns in America point to more empirical evidence proving that reducing the amount of guns, or at least adding more barriers to obtaining ownership of a gun, leads to less mass shootings occurring.

Then arises the legal argument, which basically means that getting rid of guns entirely is impossible, since such a motion would require a constitutional amendment, which isn't happening anytime soon.

Overall, America without guns might seem like a good idea at first, but when you really think about it, it becomes less appealing. If we criminalize ownership of guns, then there would arise a black market for such goods; just look at what happened during prohibition, when the government outlawed alcohol. Plus, guns aren't the only weapons out there. Anything and everything can be a weapon in the right (or wrong) hands.

There is no excuse for the immense amount of gun violence that plagues America, while this isnt a problem anywhere else around the globe. In other countries, one large Mass Shooting leads to immediate gun reform. In America, we must suffer weekly mass shootings with no legislation in sight.

The "good guys with guns" argument for why guns are safe isnt backed up whatsoever by facts. More people with guns just increases the availability for those looking to commit crimes.

The "criminals will get guns anyways" argument is crazy to me. If that's the argument, why do we have any laws at all if "criminals will just break them anyways"

Gun reform is a crazy argument because its simply not an issue in any other developed country, or even remotely close to the insane numbers America has in gun violence and gun possessions per capita. Our culture is so messed up that lawmakers will refuse to even close LOOPHOLES that allow purchase of firearms without background checks (there are many loopholes that allow this) and refuse to pass COMMON SENSE gun laws (getting rid of military grade weapons from the hands of civilians). An assault rifle cannot be used for home protection. Cannot be used for hunting. I agree with guns because people feel a lot safer and there has been multiple occasions where they have saved lives or saved their own lives by having a gun.

It's pretty much neutral in my opinion because just like a bullet takes lives, it saves lives too. Law enforcement doesn't always take lives to save one, but in some cases like police brutality innocent lives are taken unjustly.
