the correct diet for a puppy between 8 - 16 weeks is 1/2 a mug of food 3 times a day to space their feeding out a bit. adult dogs tend to be fed once a day but can sometimes be spaced out to twice a day. a senior dog normally has a more palatable food like canned meat or adding moisture like gravy to the kibble so its softer for them. underweight dogs' rib cages may be visible and can be felt, and their pelvic bones become a lot more prominent. signs of an overweight dog are abdominal sagging, excessive panting, and the ribs, spine and waistline is no longer visible. important nutrients that a dog needs are proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, minerals, and water. the correct balanced dog food will say "complete and balanced nutrition" on the label.
