-Professionals don’t like common people opinions and common people don’t trust the experts

The media can put out any information it desires regarding gun violence, use, and control. Information has to be thoroughly looked through to determine what is true

It was a process of trail and error to find articles within the search results that were informative to my study. I used many different key words to find sufficient search results that were useful to my study on concealed carry weapons

I did a basic google search for my pseudoscience articles finding results that were not peer reviewed.

Where I ran into issues:
My search results were sometimes hard to find and a bit tedious to filter through appropriate information for the topic. I ran into the problem of the articles being too far from the main question, so again, trail and error came into play when getting information gathered.

This article discusses the role of carry laws and their effects within the states they preside. The article explains the decrease in requirements needed to obtain firearms for individuals and how its impact has caused guns to wrong in potential dangerous hands. Some laws still require hours of training and background checks to obtain permit for concealed carry. Those convicted of crimes may possess firearms, but are not permitted to have a CCW.

I don’t like this article for my research due to its lack of evidence and research based information. It lacks peer review and pushes a more bias perspective on the subject, rather than informative. It also lacks evidence from state to state.

Logic

• Past data suggested that shall-issue laws decreased the death and crime rates with firearms, the author of this article argues it has increased and made the situation worse
Logic
• An increase of access to firearms legally increases the number of firearm related homocides and deaths

• Use of population statistics to analyze the number of states with shall-issue laws, and the number of deaths within the state related.

The article discusses how concealed and permit laws have impacted crimes in Texas. It argues that concealed carry laws and permitless carry laws have decreased crime rates. However, while crime has declined, it has made the job of law enforcement much harder to patrol who has legal weapons when you can walk out of a store with a background check and a newly purchased firearm.

While informative, it does not provide much insight on how to alleviate the situation for law enforcement while keeping the laws in place. I would have liked to see evidence from another state and how the state has handled the situation and it’s response by the public and police.
The website also hold its own compilations as its behind a paywall and I was only able to access the website three times before being required to pay. The adds were also not relevant to the content.

I chose the Concealed carry law topic because it is something I had interest in obtaining myself. I grew up aware of how to behave and handle firearms, and I took a hunters safety course too, so I value the right to have them especially in defensive situations. My home has always had guns in them, and I was taught to be aware of their dangers when they aren’t handled properly. I find the topic especially important and relevant today with the changing laws throughout the US.

An appropriate audience would be those who have reservations about gun control and are in search of more information about the issue. I would also recommend it to anyone with children or starting a family, especially those who have people in their family with guns or guns in their own home.

Overall I found this to be an informative topic for the society and world we live in today. I find the research on concealed carry training to be slim, but the research on how many crimes have been committed with guns is much more prevalent. I found evidence from mass shootings to be more common as well, which is not surprising considering the number of shootings we have had within the country.

The research is important no matter what side of the gun control debate you lie on, each family should give safety and awareness lessons for firearms within the household. It is important for parents to inform their kids even if they do not own firearms in the home, having less exposure can lead to potential for dangerous situations with firearms.

Gun control is important, but effective training and awareness on how to use the firearms can be the difference between a safe and dangerous situation. The research also suggests that providing training and stimulations for the stressful situations of mass shootings or gun violence to help combat the trauma effects from the devastating events.

I believe the research on the topic is not broad enough or widespread enough for the legislation that is being debated and considered. When it comes to voting for gun control and concealed carry weapons, having more widespread information available to the public and without a bias perspective is the best way to get the information out about real problem within the topic.

The project gave me many skills in reviewing scholarly articles for information that is useful to my topic whatever it may be. I also learned it takes a few tries to find the right search results, and adjusting search words even slightly can change the results.
