1. Good Will (Kant) by

1. What is the Good Will? 甚麼是善的意志

2. Are there anything unconditionally good? 你認為在這個世界, 到底有沒有無條件的善?

3. Do you agree with Kant that if a good will is unconditionally good, then it will be so whatever the consequence it causes in the world? 康德認為, 假如善的意志是無條件的善的話, 那麼它將會如是, 無論它會為世界帶來甚麼後果. 你同意康德的說法麼?

Kant points out that the outcome and result does not justify the will; does not directly correlate to the intention. The outcome good or bad, may not always be controlled or the way you intend. Therefore, the intention, the good will in itself is already good regardless of the result. In which, I agree to Kant's view to some extent. This is because there are specific cases where the outcome is clearly a bad one, in this case how do we justify the intent?

Cho Sung Eun Sam

1. A good will is when performing an act with a good intention, not solely for personal reasons and in an unselfish manner.

2. Yes, such as generosity. Generosity is when you are willing to share or give something of yours to someone who is in need of it. Donation booths to poorer communities are often found around the corners to every streets in Hong Kong. This shows a very benevolent and generous behavior of Hong Kong people.

3. I believe that a good will and consequences are positively correlated. Good wills are usually developed to create positive desired outcomes. For example, the killing of terrorist groups may be immoral as "killing" is not allowed on the ten commandments. However, it carries a good will which is to eliminate dangerous threats to innocent citizens, resulting to good consequences eg. safety to the world.

Janice Ng Wing Yee
