The interior of the heart does have some noticeable damage or signs of illness. There is bacterial buildup found on the surfaces of the valves. This could be caused by the abscessed tooth that Marcel had. The bacteria of the tooth could have ventured into his bloodstream which most likely led to it affecting the valves. This condition is called Acute Bacterial Endocarditis.
