Who am I? I am a person who just graduated high school and is trying to find my way and navigate through life.

2. Who do I pretend to be I feel I don’t pretend to be anyone, but I often pretend to have everything figured out, deep down I know it’s still a lot that I have to do to get myself in the position to be successful as I want

Who do people think I am, i’m an outgoing person I love helping people I wouldn’t necessarily be able to say who I am in the view of others eyes but I know I don’t treat anyone how they’re not supposed to be treated and I always give respect

4. I wish I could be this person who could take care of my family and make sure they aren’t suffering from any type of depression or anything that could make them suffer in general. I wish I could help everybody. That’s the type of person I wish I was.

race and ethnicity plays a big role in my responses usually people around my age that are African-American often go through the same thing being racial profiled wherever you go, never being able to truly live how you want because of the world we live in today and how black men are viewed

my first experience with race was when I moved from a place I used to live to another, but I was older. A police officer hemmed me up to the gate and put cuffs on me and my sister from walking to the store and they said it was someone in the area and we fit the description

I was 13

Some emotions I associate with the experience is anger simply because this isn’t the only time it’s happened. I’ve been experiencing this since I’ve got older since I look older the police is always racial profiling me because I am black, and I have Dreadlocks they feel as if we all look the same.

Me and my family always have talks about these type of experiences because they make sure that I’m nowhere around when things like this are happening although sometimes we may be unfortunate and still be profiled, but they give the best advice when it comes to these situations

My early experiences with race shaped my view in a way where sometimes I often feel scared to go anywhere. I don’t want to be Mistaken for anyone it just makes you wants to do everything the right way as everyone should

having a positive sense of self helps with race and identity because at the end of the day you know who you are and no one can take that away from you as long as you know you’re doing the right thing then there’s pretty much nothing. You have to worry about when it comes to race you can believe in what you want to believe in and feel how you want to feel but the world will never change. You just have to be strong and keep faith in the world like this. It’s very important to have a positive sense of self, especially in these times where many people often try to tear others down.

I feel it’s possible to have a negative sense of self and a positive ethnic identity because you may feel comfortable around the people who are just like you and feel the same as you do but maybe around others. You feel this negative view of yourself because you’re not accepted as you are with your ethnic group. The people you’re around every day and May times often do the same thing you do or have the same problems so you may feel comfortable in this situation because you don’t feel like an outcast.

Theme 1

I believe the spirit of Ubuntu it’s very much alive because he emphasizes humanity and community and compassion, which is traits I feel everyone should have when it comes to African-American families and community. I feel it’s a strong sense of family and strong community ties. I feel like the African-American culture perfectly aligns with the spirit of Ubuntu

Some similarities I’ve been able to identify that are similar to the African-American community is music, art, and storytelling within the African-American culture. It just shows how we can celebrate our community and come together and make history and share experiences that we’ve had.

1 sankofa is the term I chose Because I feel like I witnessed this every day Living in an African-American household, this words means to go back and get it to return and fetch it, and it’s an principal that encourage you to look to the past for wisdom and knowledge to help shape the present and future In my house, we live by certain Sayings That my grandparents often said, and we live by them now to this day.

2 I feel two words that our least present in the African-American community is spiritness And human authenticity because many things that are in today are things that we have gotten from our ancestors in the past many things that we think are new like certain brands no matter of the year we always go back and do the things Our ancestors did as far as fashion, music hairstyles, and things of that nature and as far as spiritness In this generation, I feel many people fear things of that nature I feel like it could be present spirit that help us, but many people don’t pay attention to things like that
