 It is also a motive during the whole saga. When alchemy is used, it is for higher and more philosophical purposes. The greatest example is the Philosopher’s Stone itself. As for Harry Potter, the teachers had always something to hide, some trick behind the curtain or some mischief. Some examples are: Severus Snape, Gilderoy Lockhart, Mad-Eye Moody and Dolores Umbridge. All these characters could be seen as the ones painted in “The Ambassadors”.
