We stood at the right side of the escalator when the norm was to stand at the left side when you are not climbing up or down the escalator.

We felt quite embarrassed as we were breaking the norm and being an inconvenience. We pretended that we weren’t doing anything wrong.

They seemed slightly annoyed.

Breaking the social norm is breaking the NP school value of responsibility. We should be socially responsible and not be an inconvenience to others

Normally, people drink bubble tea with a straw, however, we decided to drink ours with a spoon instead. It does seems a little silly to us. Initially, we were both hesitant to conduct the experiment as we are doing it in a public setting and are afraid that people who walk pass or those who are in the store would judge us. We definitely had many thoughts on how people would think about us -- would they think that we are weird? While doing the experiment, we were very embarrassed of our actions. Moreover, we were recording ourselves doing the actions which is something that we do not do on a daily basis, unlike vloggers or influencers. Thus, it did felt a little uneasy recording ourselves doing something that breaks the norm. While recording, we were facing the bubble tea store cashier and when we looked up, we noticed the employees staring at us, a little weirded out. We were very embarrassed at that point in time. Although we were very embarrassed of doing something that breaks the norm, we were glad that we actually recorded quite a few times before the end product which meant that we had to continue with our silly actions for a period of time despite our conservative personality.
