Audacity® is free, open source, cross-platform audio software for multi-track recording and editing.

Audacity is a free open-source programme which gives you the ability to create audio files and edit them easily. Teachers can ask their learners to send their first and second drafts to them to receive quick audio feedback before they start writing the final version. While audio feedback can be a productive way to help our learners, there are a couple of tips we should keep in mind:

Remain positive and keep a motivating tone.

Sequence your feedback and signpost the feedback stages.

Be clear and speak with a clear voice.

Limit your comments and prioritise errors (just as you would do in written feedback).

Begin with positive feedback, be specific and descriptive while giving constructive (negative) feedback and end with positive overall feedback. (sandwich the negative points).

Audio feedback can be given in many different ways. You can even record your voice with Windows voice recorder and send it to your students, too.

Draftback is a Chrome extension that lets you play back any Google Doc’s revision history (for docs you can edit). It’s like going back in time to look over your own shoulder as you write.

Since Draftback is a Chrome extension, your Docs data never leaves your own computer, and, unless you explicitly publish an excerpt, the extension never communicates any sensitive data with any server—it just fetches it over a secure connection from Google. All the computation for rendering the playback is done by your own computer, and it’s stored there, too.

Download it for Chrome here

The archaeology of great writing!

Draftback lets you play back the revision history of any Google Doc you can edit. It's like going back in time to look over your own shoulder as you write. Notes:

- Draftback only needs access to docs.google.com to get the revision data for playback—but that data never leaves your own browser.

- New!: It's now possible to extract any part of a doc's playback and embed it on the web. (This, of course, makes that extract accessible to the public.)

- Draftback has been tested with large documents, but you may run into trouble with REALLY large docs. If that happens, shoot me a note (me@jsomers.net) and I'll try to get to the bottom of it.

Dunlea loves the ability to "forward the Vox via email to parents.

Easily and quickly make rubric selections and convert the Analysis or Holistic rubric into a percentage or points grade.

Teacher Rubric is an add-on that will increase your grading productivity and it professionally presents a scored rubric and grade for your students.

Google docs and Classroom are fantastic applications to create, distribute and receive submitted assignments from students. However, the grading process seems to bring the efficiency to a screeching halt. Where can the grade be placed so it stands out from the assignment? How can rubric selections be made easily? I like rubrics but the final grade can be tedious to calculate. It takes too many highlights, clicks and time to format grades on 125 submissions.

OrangeSlice: Teacher Rubric increases the teacher’s grading productivity by eliminating repetitive clicks, presenting the rubric selections in an easy to use format and presenting the final grades in a consistent, professional format. More time is created for the teacher to provide the needed constructive feedback their students need for success.
