I think that the action in the picture is not happening in America, because of the vegetation around the "camp".

The place on this picture might be somewhere near the sea,just looking at the front, there were people that looks like native americans doing work, but there's a building with orange roof at the back, and that does not looks like something built by the native people. So the scene shows in the pictures may happens when English people first came aboard America, they force the native americans to do labor works such as wheeling, cooking and making tools.

I think that these are native people working in Central America or Southern U.S.

because palm trees are not native to colonies such as New York or Massachusetts.

There is evidence of European development in this area because a European looking

building can be seen behind the workers.

I agree with Victor and I think it could be in the Caribbean or the Southern U.S. colonies. I'm also not sure who owns the building in the middle of the picture. I believe it might be Spanish due to the fact that the walls are white and the roof is dark orange.

people that may be working for the Americans. They

seem to be doing hard labor work that the

Americans may not be capable of doing. Looking

carefully, these natives may be working on a a

farm because of all the farm

The natives look as if they are working very hard to make

food, clothes, and tool making. By carefully observing the

picture you can see a white woman standing next to the

house and it seems as if shes watching over the natives.

Not only are there adults in this picutre there is also a little

boy standing towards the middle of the picture near

the house.

In 4rth grade at Saratoga Elementary, we went on a field trip to learn about the Ohlone Indians and we got to make tortillas as a activity. I remember that we rolled out the corn like this to make the tortila dough. So the man is probably making some sort of bread iteam

this is most likly an outdoor kitchen. When houses were made out of wood people would have the kitchen seperated from the main building incase of a fire. It looks like the men and woman have tortillas on the top of the roof, maybe they have the dough up there to let it rise?

I observe that there are people next to the woman who may be watching the natives. That might be her husband and child. I also noticed that the house seems small for a wealthy family that owns land and slaves. It could be a house where the natives live.

It seems like the natives are doing many types of labor. They could either be working on multiple items or it could be an assembly line where one person does one job and then passes it on to the next person. This painting could also depict people starting a settlement in America due to the fact that some of the nearby trees have been cleared and there is a stump in the bottom right corner.

I observe that turkeys are native and corn is native to this place because there is a wild turkey in the lower left of the picture and the natives seem to be making some food that is involved with corn.

You can see that all the Natives are working

on something different and are only

concentrating on one thing. The weather in the

picture looks quite windy and possible a little bit chilly

because of some of the trees blowing in one direction.

The natives were not slaves but they helped with chores

and also worked to support themselves and family.
