A very special leader for Buddhists is the Dalai Lama. He is a special Buddhist monk. 
The Dalai Lama encourages people to live in peace and harmony. 
The current Dalai Lama is the fourteenth person to hold the position, and won a special peace prize in 1989.

They also have lots of other jobs like giving talks and looking after people who go to church, called the congregation. They also visit the sick and elderly. 

Roman Catholicism is another branch of Christianity. 
The person who leads worship in a Roman Catholic church is called a priest.
Only men can be priests in a Roman Catholic church. A priest is called ‘Father’, to show that his job is to look after his congregation.

The Roman Catholic church has a worldwide leader called the pope. He lives in the Vatican City, which is a tiny country in Italy. The pope is called Pope Francis – he is the 266th man to be pope.

Siddhartha Gautama, the founder of Buddhism who later became known as “the Buddha,” lived during the 5th century B.C. 
Gautama was born into a rich family as a prince in Nepal. Gautama saw the suffering in the world and wanted to make a change.

He decided to give up his rich lifestyle and live in poverty. 
After six years, Buddhists believe Gautama found enlightenment while meditating under a Bodhi tree. He spent the rest of his life teaching others about how to achieve this spiritual state.

An angel named Gabriel visited Muhammad while he was meditating in a cave. The angel ordered Muhammad to say the words of Allah.
Muslims believe that Muhammad continued to get these messages from Allah throughout the rest of his life.
Muhammad then began telling other people about the messages he received. He taught them that there was no other God but Allah and that Muslims should devote their lives to this God.
