         <title>Early Days of Mahatma Gandhi </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Born on October 2, 1869 in Porbandar, India. Gandhi went to the Porbandar elementary school and did well with his grades. He was born into Hinduism and raised the ways of one but didn't conform too much into it. He goes on to make his own interpretation of Hinduism later on in his life. </div>]]></description>

         <title>Last Days of Mahatma Gandhi</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>He was killed on January 30, 1948 . He was in new Delhi when he was killed by a Nathuram Godse<strong> . <br><br></strong>Sometime after 5 pm Gandhi reached the top of the steps leading to the raised lawn behind the Brila House.&nbsp; He was hosting a prayer meeting. &nbsp;<br><br>A crown was there and Godse was in crowd. Godse stepped out from the crowd flanked by Gandhi’s path and bowed to him and then shot Gandhi three times.&nbsp; Gandhi fell on the ground. &nbsp;<br><br>He was carried back to his room in Birla House from which a representative emerged sometime later to announce his death.&nbsp; &nbsp;<br><br></div><div>Godse was captured by members of the crown and was handed over to the police. &nbsp;<br><br>&nbsp;WorldWise has swept away many of Gandia ’s Principles but Gandia ’s message about peace and independence and forgives live on. &nbsp;<br><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>1932-1933 Gandhi was imprisoned for civil disobedience, the British held him at Yervada Prison in Pune, India. While in prison, Gandhi's wheel brought him. great comfort. He encouraged his fellow Indians to spin their own clothes instead of buying them from the English. Media caught onto the images of Gandhi and his Wheel and it became a symbol for many things. &nbsp;<br><br>The Spinning wheel also has symbolic meaning. The ability to produce and create things out of a menial task. It was an act against capitalism as it showed Indians that they don’t need a large company to live or sustain themselves, they can produce or sell their own things.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <title>Peaceful Resistance Movement </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Gandhi was known for his none violent movement. He taught humanity that peaceful protest is not only a realty but a viable means to bring actual change without causing physical harm.<br><br>A large factor in ending British rule was Gandhi's Peaceful Resistance Movement. Gandhi lived by the Sanskrit word, Ahimsa. (Ahhhhh heem sa). It literally means: no harm, no intent to kill, do not injure ect. However Ahimsa is more then a literal meaning. It is considered to be an ethical virtue to many Eastern philosophies.&nbsp;<br><br>Gandhi also lived by the idea of Shanti Sen aka Peace armies. The idea that if you took the same amount of money used to buy a those weapons and put it toward none violent methods, you could easily defend a country this way.</div>]]></description>

         <title>The Salt March</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Salt March took place from March to April 1930 in India. Gandhi led the Salt March, which was a nonviolent movement in colonial India. Indians followed Gandhi from his religious retreat near Ahmedabad to Arabian sea coast, the distance of some 240 miles.&nbsp; It was a nonviolent march. &nbsp;<br><br>Over 60,000 people, including Gandhi, were arrested were arrested on May 5.&nbsp;<br><br>Britain’s Salt Act of 1882 prohibited Indians from collection or selling salt. Indian citizens were forced to buy the vital mineral from their British rulers.&nbsp;<br><br>Gandhi sent a letter on March 2, 1930, to inform the Viceroy Lord Irwin that he and the others would begin breaking the Salt Laws in 10 days.&nbsp; &nbsp;<br><br><br>They reached Dani on April 5; Gandhi was head of the crowd of tens of thousands of protestors. &nbsp; While there, Gandia unearth a small lump on natural salt out of the mud and British Law has been defied. &nbsp;<br><br></div><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Gandhi got engaged with Kasturba since he was 7. As years go on, he was looked forward to his marriage. Gandhi was 13 years old when he got an arranged marriage with Kasturba in 1883. Kasturba was one year older when they officially got together. Although they were married for decades, it was rumored that Gandhi was very controlling of his wife. He watched closely of her movements and controlled who she can or can't be with. Gandhi took a vow of celibacy for spiritual reasonings. Later on in life, they go on and have four sons and their marriage lasted 62 years. </div>]]></description>

Gandhi starts a movement and protested the local farmers against the collection of taxes from government officials.&nbsp;<br><br>The movement was known to be successful and was heavily supported.          <description><![CDATA[<div>The trail of Nathuram Godse&nbsp; and the others people involved started on November 8, 1949. He was sentenced to death . Although pleas for commutation were made by Gandhi’s two sons but they turned down by India ‘s prime minister.&nbsp; Godse and Apte was hanged at Ambala Central Jail on 15 November 1949.&nbsp; While the others got jail time.&nbsp;<br><br>A documentary&nbsp; later was made on Gandhi and they interview The brother of Godse was part of the mission to kill Gandhi. Gopal Godse died on 26 November 2005 and why he did what he did. He said " Gandhi was his idol" He also said he doesn't feel bad for killing Gandhi and he believe Gandhi had turned his back on Indian independence movement. </div><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>There were many assassination on Gandhi's life. There were about 5. There was a failed assassination of Gandhi. Gandhi there and doing a fast in his house in Delhi. &nbsp;<br><br>The Godse ’s brothers hated Gandhi ’s appeasement of Muslims so they plan assassination that failed. One of the brothers would fire a gun at Gandi. It failed. They need a latter to get into the house and shoot Gandhi.&nbsp;<br>&nbsp;<br>On June 25,&nbsp; Gandhi was deliver a speech at Pune Corporation. After Gandhi and his wife they got two similar cars.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>One of the car got bomb . This car bomb  gravely injuring Chief Officer of the Corporation, two policemen and seven others.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>Ten years later in July 1944 the second attempt&nbsp; took. Godse with a dagger in hand and rushed at&nbsp; Gandhi yelling anti Gandhi slogans luckily he was tackled by&nbsp; Manishankar Purohit and Bhillare Guruji.&nbsp;<br><br>The third attempt took place on Sep 1944</div><div>Godse and LG Thatte threaten to stop Bapu&nbsp; from meeting Jiannah. When Grandhi travelled from Sevagram to Bombay. Nathuram Godse and his gang mobbed the ashram to stop Gandhi from leaving Bombay. Nathuram Godse had a dragger.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>The fourth attempt took place on June 1946 when a train en route Pune lucky the loco pilot acted quickly and managed to slow down the train before the impact saving the lives onboard</div><div><br>&nbsp;The fifth attempt was on 20 January 1948. &nbsp; Nathuram Godse and his gang were in the crowd. The bomb explosion on 20 January 1948 at Gandhi's prayer meeting in Delhi, just 50 meters away from Gandhi.&nbsp;<br><br>The gang got away, and the only one named Madan La Pahwa was caught by police but the others got away and the police never followed up or look into it.&nbsp;<br><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>   In 1893, Gandhi was on a train with a first class ticket to Africa. He was told off by a white person that he doesn't belong there. In South Africa, Gandhi witnessed Asian workers and Africans being racist.&nbsp; The Indians lived in unsanitary conditions and did not have the right to vote. He remained in Africa until 1914 and united the people to fight for their rights.<br>   In Africa, non-Christian marriages have been declared invalid.&nbsp; And children born in these marriages were considered illegitimate.&nbsp; It was an insult to women.&nbsp; So many women have also joined the movement for their rights.&nbsp; Gandhi discovered that masses of people have a tremendous capacity to fight and sacrifice for a cause they believe in, for the sake of justice.</div>]]></description>
