My reflections on "Power of Words" would be that by using simple words like "may call it any name she chooses" or even putting a note that says one word "Frindle", allows us to interpret the underlying meaning of the words in a myriad of ways.

I think the "Power of Words" is an important theme in the novel because when we read the book prior to the discussion, we thought that the book was quite cute, lighthearted banter between a teacher and a student. But the choice of words and after further examining the text, I soon realized that this book is not as simple. Even the use of the word villain, made us rethink the definition.

BY inventing and changing words, we change the way we think, see the world and create new realities and possibilities.

Therefore the theme of the power of words is essential to the story because Nick and Mrs Granger witness how the word Frindle grows beyond their imagination and control.

Power of Words here would be a form of self-expression and creativity. It also shows how Nick's rebellion against his teacher has brought about the invention of a new word and created a change where the word became widely used and accepted officially. It can also foster the sense of belonging among the pupils when everyone in the community started using it together. As such, it shows that words have such great power not just for communication but also change and identity.
