         <description><![CDATA[<div>TECHNOLOGY EXPOSURE<br><br><br><br><br><br><br>    Children nowadays are called as Generation Z. they are considered to be the generation that are most likely to be exposes at an early age. You can even see a child younger than you are that are better in using technology. If for example you are going  to give them a smartphone, they tend to use it better than you do without teaching them. They are like the children who are 'technology experts'<br><br><br>    In the technology available nowadays they also invent their own language. They have acronyms that are not easily understandable by adults or the generation before them. They commonly talk about things that are very hard to decode. Most of them would have statements with double meaning through technology. They also apply words where the meaning is already changed. For example, if you say “Eating is delicious”, they would commonly think about sexual something.<br><br>Technology exposure has been linked to mental health, social anxiety, and decrease in social and cognitive functions.  Studies show a correlation between technology exposure and anxiety. Other negative effects include depression, fluctuation in mood, and interest.  Some studies even argue that exposure prior to two years of age affects the developmental process of the brain.  Then there are those that confirm technology exposure is necessary. As educators we believe in encouraging technology exposure.  I was the young techie teacher over 6 years ago.  Knowing then that technology is the future of education, I’ve always been one to enjoy its benefits.  <br><br><br>TECHNOLOGY EXPOSURE    <br>Today, we live in a world where networked-based technologies transform the way we live, work and play. I have had the opportunity to witness firsthand how these same technologies are also transforming the way we learn. <br>Traditional forms of education tend to focus on the accumulation of knowledge over the application of knowledge. Technology now enables students to not only facilitate access to information anytime and anywhere, but it also allows students to apply that knowledge to a real-world setting immediately. Today, students want the same technologies they use daily to be integrated in their education experience. Governments are waking up to the understanding of the essential link between education access and technology use. This is making technology adoption in education a fundamental driver of economic growth.<br>As the use of Internet technologies is growing exponentially, it is becoming more and more challenging to find qualified professionals in our country, Philippines. Those competencies will sustain employability throughout life and allow them to thrive in a knowledge economy. A flexible educational system coupled with successful teaching will allow us to take advantage of the opportunities to develop the next generation of professionals and leaders that will contribute to economic prosperity and foster social inclusion and equality. Though technology is no substitute for an inspiring teacher, it can serve to expand that teacher’s reach well beyond the classroom. <br>Private-sector companies like Cisco play a role to help educators around the Philippines implement technologies for collaboration, connectivity, data center, mobility, video, virtualization and more. These technologies help spread knowledge and improve outcomes by facilitating equal access to students regardless of gender, geographic location, socioeconomic or ethnic background, illness or disability, or any other circumstance that may hinder such access. The more exposure students have to technology while they are learning, the better prepared they are to use those technologies and improve the world when they graduate. <br><br><br><br>TECHNOLOGY EXPOSURE<br>Truth is technology exposure is proven to enhance hand eye coordination.  This occurs when children follow objects on a screen and actually engage in the game or app.  Moreover, providing the opportunity in developing higher order thinking and application through engagement.  We also can’t argue that it doesn’t enhance a child’s capacity for visual attention.  Every detail on the screen is carefully observed for cues that help plan a child’s next move.  And Let’s not forget how technology helps develop motivation.  Parents or guardians alike can use tech time as a reward for positive behavior.  This type of reinforcement and practice encourages a positive social cognitive behavior.  This exposure also increases spatial awareness.  It also improves problem solving.  The technology also draws out individual talents.  Surely children who are more musically inclined will perform better in apps that focus on developing that skill.  Likewise those who have a higher tendency in recognition, repetition, and patterns are more likely to overdevelop these skills.<br>Here is the skinny if there is a delay  technology exposure.  Reality is that technology is here to stay.  We need to accept it.  We live in a digital world.  The more we delay technology exposure the more we go against mainstream culture.  Although there are some negative effects of technology exposure we can not ignore its benefits.  <br>In moderation technology, exposure is necessary.  Students need technology exposure so they can explore.  Furthermore kids need to play and learn to use technology in communicating.  Give control.  Let them engage and empower their own learning.  Technology exposure should be playful, creative, and fun.  Be the positive example children need to model and engage with technology.  <br>Thinking. The capacity to reflect, reason, and draw conclusions based on our experiences, knowledge, and insights. It’s what makes us human and has enabled us to communicate, create, build, advance, and become civilized. Thinking encompasses so many aspects of who our children are and what they do, from observing, learning, remembering, questioning, and judging to innovating, arguing, deciding, and acting.<br>There is also little doubt that all of the new technologies, led by the Internet, are shaping the way we think in ways obvious and subtle, deliberate and unintentional, and advantageous and detrimental The uncertain reality is that, with this new technological frontier in its infancy and developments emerging at a rapid pace, we have neither the benefit of historical hindsight nor the time to ponder or examine the value and cost of these advancements in terms of how it influences our children’s ability to think. There is, however, a growing body of research that technology can be both beneficial and harmful to different ways in which a student/child think. Moreover, this influence isn’t just affecting student/child on the surface of their thinking. Rather, because their brains are still developing and malleable, frequent exposure by so-called digital natives to technology is actually wiring the brain in ways very different than in previous generations. What is clear is that, as with advances throughout history, the technology that is available determines how our brains develop. In contrast, the rise of the Internet is strengthening our ability to scan information rapidly and efficiently.<br>TECHNOLOGY EXPOSURE<br>The effects of technology on children/Students are complicated, with both benefits and costs. Whether technology helps or hurts in the development of your children’s thinking depends on what specific technology is used and how and what frequency it is used. At least early in their lives, the power to dictate your children’s relationship with technology and, as a result, its influence on them, from synaptic activity to conscious thought. You can think of attention as the gateway to thinking. Without it, other aspects of thinking, namely, perception, memory, language, learning, creativity, reasoning, problem-solving, and decision making are greatly diminished or can’t occur at all. The ability of children/students nowadays to learn to focus effectively and consistently lays the foundation for almost all aspects of their growth and is fundamental to their development into successful and happy people. <br>Technology conditions our brain to pay attention to information very differently than reading. The metaphor that Nicholas Carr uses is the difference between scuba diving and jet skiing. Book reading is like scuba diving in which the diver is submerged in a quiet, visually restricted, slow-paced setting with few distractions and, as a result, is required to focus narrowly and think deeply on the limited information that is available to them. In contrast, using the Internet is like jet skiing, in which the jet skier is skimming along the surface of the water at high speed, exposed to a broad vista, surrounded by many distractions, and only able to focus fleetingly on any one thing. Exposure to technology isn’t all bad. Base on my experience, for example, video games and other screen media improve visual-spatial capabilities, increase attentional ability, reaction times, and the capacity to identify details among clutter. Also, the ubiquitous use of Internet search engines is causing children to become less adept at remembering things and more skilled at remembering where to find things. Given the ease with which information can be found these days, it only stands to reason that knowing where to look is becoming more important for children than actually knowing something. Not having to retain information in our brain may allow it to engage in more “higher-order” processing such as contemplation, critical thinking, and problem-solving.<br>In conclusion, Technology is everywhere, and is fully integrated into the daily lives of the average student or child, giving that student connection to an immense amount of information. Use of this technology in the classroom in the proper manner has the benefit of helping to raise academic achievement from the students as well as from the teachers from all levels of skill. The need for technology integration is there, but many schools have not been meeting this necessary intervention. However, until the current status of technology integration and perception of its usefulness has been changed, the disconnect between student and teacher can only grow larger. A paradigm shift regarding appropriate implementation of technology in education is necessary to ensure a successful 21st century classroom and to set up students for success in their future careers.<br><br><br><br><br><br></div>]]></description>
