         <description><![CDATA[<p>Activities Around Engagement with Families and community. </p><ol><li><p>Invite Guest Speakers: Inviting speakers into the classroom of different backgrounds, ethnicity, culture, can help to share their unique perspective. </p></li><li><p>Holiday Celebrations: Invite families to participate in learning about and celebrating holidays from different cultures. The class can do an engaging craft, read a story, or eat a cultural dish after learning about the meaning of the unique holiday. </p></li><li><p>Music: Learning about and listening to different music with cultural significance can be a fun and engaging way to celebrate unique culture in the classroom. Students can listen and make different music from specific culture. Invite members of the community to come in and model different music and instruct on the cultural significance. </p></li><li><p>Show and Tell: Have students bring items of cultural significance to share with the class. This allows the students to learn from their peers and allows the student to share something that is unique to themselves. Invite families to come and participate in the show and tell activites. </p></li></ol>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p><strong>Culturally Responsive Teaching Methods</strong></p><ol><li><p>Establish clear expectations and routines: When the students know what to expect and what is expected of them, this promotes a good classroom community where all students have a clear understanding. Come together as a class to develop classroom rules. Let students share what rules they feel like would be important. </p></li><li><p>Accommodations and Modifications: Set goals with students. Come together as a team with student, family, related service providers to establish classroom accommodations or modifications the student may need to access their curriculum. </p></li><li><p>Strengths: Have students brainstorm their strengths and use them in partner activities. </p></li><li><p>Polls: Let students use there voice by sharing their thoughts and feelings through regular classroom polls.  This also allows for educator check in with their understanding and can support them or re-teach key concepts they may have missed. </p></li></ol>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Curriculum Integration</p><ol><li><p>Student Leadership Activities: Setting up classroom jobs allows students to take a leadership role in the classroom. </p></li><li><p>Student led activities: Host a classroom cultural fair where students bring in a cultural dish, dress, or activity to share with the class. </p></li><li><p>Project-Based Learning: Allow students to pick a topic they feel passionate about a create a project centered around how to promote it within the community. </p></li><li><p>Growth Mindset: Instruct students on the difference between growth mindset and fixed mindset. Allow them to pick several areas of fix mindset to change into growth mindset thinking.</p></li></ol>]]></description>
