Changes to refine and/or enhance the efficiency of the module:

To enhance the efficiency or effectiveness of the module, I feel that adding a video visually describing the steps of the activities would be helpful. Although, Haley and I incorporated many pictures of the steps of each activity, a video of us completing the activities would probably be more helpful. Also, Haley and I are going to be creating packets of materials to send to the YMCA to go along with the module. This will help to enhance the content that is provided in the presentation.

Throughout the development of the healthy habits teaching module, Haley and I had difficulty with recording the Zoom presentation. Haley and I have never had to record on Zoom before while screen sharing and had difficulty saving the recording in a suitable format. There were times when Google slides would lag behind or jump ahead while we were recording. However, once we learned how to effectively record and save, the rest of the process went well!

Furthermore, we had difficulty prioritizing what was to be included in the module. In other words, it was challenging to determine what additional content we wanted to include. For example, once Haley and I completed the introductory and activity-related slides, we felt that our presentation was empty and needed more. At first, we found it difficult to think of what additional slides would be needed to "teach the teacher." With that in mind, Haley and I brainstormed ideas together and found that slides addressing food insecurity, the benefits of healthy eating and strategies to teach to a pre-schooler were the best to include. From this, we thought of including screenshots of handouts and links directly on the slides. Thus, the challenges Haley and I experienced honestly made us think deeper about what was needed to "teach the teacher" and actually allowed us to grow as a team! It allowed us to think about new and creative ideas!

First, the way in which Haley and I gave each other feedback about each of our ideas was done in a respectful way. For example, Haley provided me with feedback about how I could make the slides less "wordy." I am the type of student who writes a lot and has a difficult time keeping content brief. I appreciate that she reminded me to keep the slides concise. I also felt that providing Haley with feedback about new topics that we could teach in the module was done respectfully. I offered ideas about including space requirements and QR code links in the module, and she thought this was a great idea. Overall, I felt like the way we respected each other's ideas was something that allowed us to work efficiently as a team! It acted as a catalyst for the development of new ideas.

Moreover, the utilization of Google slides was also done in an efficient way. Google slides was easy to use and helped us to organize the content in the module. I also felt that Google slides allowed Haley and I to display our module in a creative way. In other words, it gave us the opportunity to use colorful pictures and themes to enhance the content of the module.

Lastly, I felt that Haley and I had effective organizational and time management skills. We made a visual outline of everything that we wanted to include in our presentation and then created a Google slide presentation. I felt that brainstorming things to include in the presentation acted as a catalyst for the development of the module. Also, time was not wasted each time we met to work on the module. We both kept each other accountable for what had to get done and met multiple times a week to work on it. I am very grateful that Haley was just as dedicated to this module as I was and that she put in 110% effort into making it creative.

Overall, I truly felt that the development of teaching module #1 was a positive experience for me. It not only expanded my knowledge on a topic I am passionate about, but it also allowed to design activities for children. While developing these activities with Haley, it reminded me of when I had to create activities for children during my psychosocial fieldwork I experience. It was cool to make this connection! One of my favorite aspects of the development of this module is that I had the opportunity to use my creativity! I really liked that we were allowed to use any modality of our choice to create the teaching module. For example, I felt that the combination of a video recording, visual presentations and detailed handouts was a cool way to "teach the teacher" virtually.
Furthermore, I also felt that working in a group to develop the community project was a positive experience. Throughout the development of the module, Haley was reliable and productive! She had awesome ideas for our program. I also felt that providing and receiving feedback in my group was done in such a respectful way! We both provided each other with new ideas and offered suggestions for how to think of our teaching module in new ways. Overall, working in a group setting allowed me to recognize other's perspectives, fostered creativity and kept me accountable for the parts of the module I was expected to complete.

What Occurred During the Development of the Teaching Module:

During the development of the healthy habits teaching module #1, introductory topics, two activities and major themes were displayed on Google slides. First, my group member, Haley, and I discussed the goal and importance of this module. We felt that this was a unique way to "teach the teacher" and to introduce the topic of healthy habits. We also discussed two themes that relate to the topic of healthy habits, including food insecurity and the benefits of healthy eating. We felt that this was a good way to lead into the activities being taught. Furthermore, Haley and I developed two activities to reflect our overall module of healthy habits. The first activity was called, "How Does a Seed Grow?" The second activity was called, "What is on my Plate?" The materials, steps, goals and space and time requirements of each activity were discussed. Although I would have loved to go to the YMCA to implement this module, I still had a very enjoyable experience creating it virtually!
