The reason I believe that he is both because when you have a growth mindset, you believe that you can fix your situation and things will get better. Now, when you have a fixed mindset, that means that you believe in one thing and only that: you can't keep going. This is what Hamlet is like. He really wanted to do something about his father's death, but his fixed mindset stopped him from doing so.Another thing that shows that he has a fixed mindset is because his only way out of this situation is suicide. He doesn't think that things will get better, so his way out is to kill himself.  His biggest flaw came in effect because of how indecisive he is. But then again, he decided to pretend to go mad so Claudius's guilt can come to light. The following quote supports my reasoning: 
" For who would bear the whips and scorns of time/Th' oppressor's wrong, the proud man's contumely, /The pangs of despised love,the law's delay/ The insolence of office, and the spurns/ That patient merit of th' unworthy takes/ When himself might his quietus make With a bare bodkin?"(3.1.71-77) This quote is from the To Be or Not To Be quote. This supports my reasoning because in this quote, Hamlet is talking about that why put up with all of this humiliation and betrayal, when you can simply pick up a knife and just end up your misery right there. This is where Hamlet is fixed. He isn't looking beyond his problems.  He just thinks that the only way out of this is death.

Hamlet finds out who the killer of his father is through the ghost. Hamlet didn't really believe the ghost right away, so he decided he was going to put on a play relating to this situation to see if Hamlet showed any type of guilt. He also, well decided to go completely mad. A way to show that Hamlet is misunderstood is by the fact that he has fake friends and his mother married his own uncle. We can see how Hamlet feels about this marriage by the way he talks to Gertrude. In Act 3 Scene 4, Hamlet and Gertrude start to fight and she asks him " What have I done, that thou darest wag thy tongue/In noise so rude against me?" Then, Hamlet responds with this: " Such an act/ That blurs the grace and blush of modesty,/ Call virtue hypocrite, take off the rose/From the fair forehead of an innocent love/....With tristful visage, as against the doom,/ Is thought sick at the act."(3.4.42-52) This quote just really explains why Hamlet is so upset with his mother and just this situation in general. Gertrude asks Hamlet why he keeps talking  to her like that and Hamlet jut goes Ham and tells her what is up. In the above quote, he is trying to say that her marriage vows are fake and how what she is done is very wrong. In this occasion, Hamlet's downfall starts the moment that he finds out what really had happened to his father and who had been responsible for it. In the book, we learn that the ghost is Hamlet's father. He lets hamlet know who his murderer was as he quotes " Now Hamlet,hear/Tis given out that, sleeping in my orchard,/...But know, thou noble youth/ The serpent that did sting thy father's life/Now wear his crown."(1.5.34-40) In this quote, the ghost is letting Hamlet know that his death was not caused by a serpent, but instead someone who put poison in his ear. But it wasn't just anyone,it was the one who now wears the crown,as in Claudius. Hamlet then responds to this with " O my prophetic soul!My uncle?"(1.5.41) This line says "prophetic",which lets us know that Hamlet was already suspicious that Claudius had been the one to kill his father. His downfall starts to progress when he is stuck between getting revenge for his fathers death or just pretend to go completely mad. As the reader may know, his biggest flaw is being indecisive, so he decides to go mad. At that moment, Hamlet finds out that his own uncle has killed his father. In all honesty, both of them were the victims of their own destruction, so I think that they should have had a happier ending.
