Walter's dream affects all other family members. Walter's dream affects everyone once he took all of Benetha's Medical school money. Walter gave the rest of the money to Willy to, "Spread around" yet Bobo tells Walter that Willy actually ran off with the money. "Son...Is it gone? Son, I gave you sixty-five hundred dollars. Is it gone? All of it? Benetha's money too?"(Hansberry 129). Walter took Benetha's money as well to make Walter's dream affect Benetha, Mama, and even Ruth.

Walter argues with Ruth yet other times he has good times with Ruth. With Travis, Walter really cares about his son, "You ain't even looked at it and you have decided-Well, you tell that to my boy tonight when you put him to sleep on the living room couch"(Hansberry 71). Walter is saying if he got the liquor store, the Younger's would be able to live a good life. Walter is disappointed that his one said can't sleep on a bed, he has to sleep on a living room couch.
