Bree Thomas experiences racism in school. Jokes and comments are made directed at her on a daily basis. "“What do you know? You’re just a dumb black girl!” Looking back at it, that wasn’t the worst thing he could’ve said. But I’d never had anyone say something like that to me, so I was a bit out of it. I spent the rest of the afternoon looking at the skin on my arms. I remember just wondering who I was. Just wondering who my skin made me. I think that particular experience made me perfectly aware of my race. I have grown since then. Being a young black woman used to make me embarrassed."

"It advantages whites while producing cumulative and chronic adverse outcomes for people
of color. It is a system of hierarchy and inequity, primarily characterized by white
supremacy" (Keith Lawrence). A clear example of this is the case of General Hyten. "When I came into the military, I came in from Alabama, and racism was a huge problem in the military". African Americans are invisible at the top of the military. This racism is unbelievable. They protect their country, but are still being threatened by their own.
