The students reflect on the process they have previously learned and recreate the process effectively. Conducting a science experiment allows the students for creative space. This can also be a way to assess performance skills such as appropriate voice volume, organization, and ability to create a product.

Using a research paper for older students is great way to allow students to put together all of their knowledge into a well organized paper. This form of assessment can be used to grade the writing process and strategies, the content the students provided, and understanding of the content. This type of assessment also allows the student to practice their developing writing skills and organization of their thoughts. A negative of this type of assessment can be the length of time it takes to grade as well as providing feedback. Feedback is one way the students will really benefit from this assignment so providing feedback is crucial.

Content In A Song/Poem

Content in a song allows for students to create a song or a poem with what they have learned in order to show their proficiency in the topics.
Pros:
Writing content in a song or a poem allows the students who are musically inclined to be able to portray those talents in their education. This is another great way to get to know students because the instructor gets to see and hear what type of music they like as well as see what other gifts their students may have.
Cons:
Students may get carried away with writing the song and not put in the correct content.
About the video:
In this video, the students take the famous song "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" and change the lyrics to talk about Andrew Carnegie.

Fill In The Blank

Fill in the blank allows for students to supply the answer from their prior knowledge or from the answer key box on the page. There are different ways a teacher can implement this way of assessing into their class. They can use "fill in the blank" to assess grammar, parts of speech, social studies, or science.
Pros:
This gives the students a chance to refresh their memory with the answers provided in the key.
Cons:
This assessment can make students rely heavily on the answer key and can cause them to guess and check. This may result in students not actually showing what they learn.

Students who are in 4th and 5th grade are allowed to use video projects to show what they have learned. Students can present a topic or a standard to their class or teacher as a for of assessment. The teacher must provide rubric with what the students need to portray in the video and the students can then record. This is a great way for students to associate technology into their learning and due away with the traditional pencil and paper assessments.
About the video:
The student in this video used a very organized method to present her project. She used a clear voice, had her supplies ready, and presented the experiment in order. This video project allowed her to express her creativity alongside her school curiculm.

Short Answer

Short answers are opened questions where the students have the ability to construct their own answers. This allows students to create the answers with what they know. Short answers let the instructor know what the student has learned. All of the student's responses will vary due to divergent thinking but they will have similar characteristics. The students will have multiple opportunities to earn points since they can earn partial credit.
The Pros:
Students construct their knowledge.
Goes against traditional multiple choice exams.
Cons:
For short answer assessments to be effective their needs to be a strict rubric the instructor must follow to grade the assessment. I wrote this as a con because grading short answers takes up a lot of time.

Kahoot is a recently new website that allows teachers to create a short quiz for their students to answer using a technology device. The class can long on at the same time and compete with each other to get the highest score. This motivates the students to learn the content in order to beat their peers on Kahoot.
Pros:
Motivates students to learn the content.
Cons:
This review game can be difficult to conduct if there is a limited amount of devices students can use.
-Students can still be placed into team.

Tickets out the door are a great way to assess students right after a lesson. Right before the students transition into another segment of their day they can quickly write down what they have learned. There are multiple directions teachers can go with tickets out the door.
*The teacher can write a question for the students with a Bloom's Taxonomy stem.
*Students can answer essential question.
*Students can write down a two or three dollar summary.
*Students can do a 3-2-1! This is where students write down 3 things they learned, write down 2 things they found interesting or would like to learn more about, and write down 1 question they have.

Rubrics can be used alongside an assessment to measure student's knowledge and proficients. Using a rubric to guide you as a teacher to grading assessment.
you can also add a section of the rubric to be "able to explain it to a friend" that way students are held accountable for learning the standard.
The rubric below is a rubric where students and the teacher can have a visual of what the student is missing and what the child is proficient at. The student rubric also serves as a checklist so that both teacher and student can check off what exactly is needed to have a perfect score on the assessment.

At the end of the lesson, the students can create a brief summary of the content they have previously learned. The students will make each word they use equal to 10 cents. Their summary of 10 cent words will need to equal to $3.
This assessment is a great way to know if the students have learned the content because they need to have some understanding to write a summary of it. For scaffolding purposes, their can be specific vocabulary words the students must use in their summary.
