In college I am looking forward to venturing out of my comfort zone and meeting new people and learning to live on my own. I want to learn the life my mom learned in college and enjoy all of the experiences she said she had. I also want to go to a school where football is a big part of the culture and on Saturdays I always have something to look forward to. Most important I am looking forward to learning how to balance school and fun. (86)

I think the thing that scares me about college is having to pay for it. I know there are so many ways to pay for college like fafsa, scholarships, and grants but I’m scared that moving out will be pricey. I hope that I’m able to work on campus to help pay for living expenses but thinking about that stresses me out. My dad always told me to focus on my studies because he had a job in college and it was hard for him. So I hope I do what is best for me and my future.(98 words)

What scares me the most about college is not knowing what to do in life. I don't want to be this lost and confused girl, I want to be successful in my academics and not worry about school financially. I get worried that I won't know where to go or what to do. I feel like I would lose myself trying to balance school, money and personal life. I pray to God that I can help my family one day and not lose the connection we have because of distance.

When I go to college, I would like to venture out and do things like attend events and push myself to take on roles that I would have otherwise not taken now. I might not know a single person at the college I'm at, and I'll have to make new friends all over again. I find myself to be a social person, and I think I would struggle with being alone in college. I'm hoping whatever college I end up going to has good clubs and campus activities that I can participate in. The clubs I'm looking to join consist of sewing, music, and / or jewelry.

I think that I would want to stay in the state for my college journey. California can be a big and small place, with universities having many different majors. California also has some of the best universities in the country. I don't see a reason for me to go out of state when I have all I need here. Going out of state would be too expensive for me; I'd rather stay here and have my Cal grant and other financial aid services exclusive to California. But besides cost, I want to stay relatively close. And going out of state would put me far away in a new state where I know nobody. So when I put all these different factors combined, I would rather stay in-state for college. (135)

I hear a lot of people talking about hoping they get into their dream college, or wanting to go study in this country or this place, and I just don’t get it. How do you decide on a specific place to study in? How is that place so different from where you are now, and why that place out of everything? What’s so great about that college that you dream of attending there? I think questions like this would be nice to know an answer to, especially if I’m going to have to start applying to colleges soon after the end of this year.

Some goals I want to achieve during college that I couldn’t accomplish during high school are becoming more involved with my community, being myself, and focusing on myself more. I’ve noticed that in my journey in high school that I’m not as involved with my community than I should be. I want to change that. Also, in college I want to actually express myself instead of being someone else just for the sake of what others would think. I also want to just focus on myself more instead of worrying more about others because how can I help others if I can’t help myself. This is one thing I want to accomplish in my college years.

What scares me the most about college is falling behind. Everyone tells me college should be fun but it will also be very challenging. So I am scared to get behind on things and not be able to come back from it. I am also scared to begin my journey for applying, scholarships and living expenses that I will begin to have to worry about as I get closer to going to college. One last thing I am scared about is not being close to the person I am put in a dorm with. If I want to go out of state it is unlikely that I will know anyone else attending that school and I will have to hope I get someone I enjoy to live with my first year. (131)

College is a lot of money and I would need aid to not go in debt. Also getting the money back would take a while if my furture job or current job in College do not pay well. Finally, if I played Baseball in College it would be almost impossibke to have a job knwing that Baseball is a commitment and I still have school work.

A question that I would like to have answered the most before my junior year has to be about financial aid. I'm not familiar with the process, nor do I know much about how much it would give me. So I have a lot of questions about the financial aid process for college. I don't have a specific question, since, like I said, I don't know a lot about it. But the closest I have to a specific question would be, How does the financial aid process work? It's a broad question, but it's the best I can give right now with the little knowledge I have about this topic. (140)

I believe I want to venture out of the state. Personally I want to experience studying in a new country. That has been my dream for a while now and I am planning on making it come true in college. Before studying abroad I am looking into living on the east coast and moving out of the country for a bit. I am mostly looking for out of state/country schools but if I do stay in state I would go to a school in San Diego.

I think the thing that scares me the most about college is being away from my family and knowing that I have to move out. Honestly moving out is really scary because I won't be living in my family home anymore but it is also very exciting because I like to be independent. The thing that terrifies me the most about moving out though is other people. People are crazy and I want to make sure that wherever I'm moving to that it's going to be really safe.

At first I wanted to be a high school exchange student but I didn't push hard enough to make that work, so now I'm going to make sure I become a study abroad student in college. I'm going to research everything that needs to be done in order to study somewhere else and I'm going to apply.

I am looking forward to meeting new people who have the same interests as me such as majors. I wanna experience the college life and see how other people react to college life. I am also looking forward to the clubs that they could have and the events. I would want to go to some sports games that they have because I’ve always enjoyed sports and I think they’re interesting. I also am looking forward to learning to be more independent. I’ve always relied on my parents so I finally want to know how it’s like being in my own and doing everything for myself rather than some.

The things that scare me the most about college is the work load and the difficulty of the classes. Also just wondering about the money I need to get to pay for college. I find it scary how it’ll eventually become a reality check and I’ll have to do all these things very soon. I get really nervous thinking about the future and what I’m going to do with my life. It’s something I never really thought to hard on because I’ve always tried my best to live in the moment but now I’m going to actually start thinking about it.

Some goals I hope to achieve that I couldn’t in high school is being more out there and taking on bigger roles. I feel like in high school throughout my years I never really put myself in leadership roles and I want to strive to be more of myself than I ever was here. I also want to be more independent and not procrastinate as much. This is something I’ve always wanted to do but have never really taken the steps to actually do. I know the work and difficulty is going to be so much more different and harder and I want to be able to not get distracted as easily.

I think its pretty cool meeting people from different backgrounds and learning about their experiences. You can make lifelong friends in college, and thats something I really want. Being in college also means having more freedom and learning how to handle things on your own, which will help me grow up. Im also really looking forward to football games and other school events. Overall, Im exited about the independence and opportunities that come with college life.(95 words)

What scares me the most about college is failing my classes. I know college is going to be harder than high school, and I dont want to mess up. I also worry a lot about money because college is really expensive. Things like tuition, books, and housing add up. It makes me nervous if I can afford it all. Failing and money are probably the two biggest things that can make me stressed about college. (75)

One question I would like to have answered before the end of my junior year is how financial aid works. College costs a lot of money, and I dont want to stress about how Im going to pay for it. Ive heard people talk about grants, scholarship, and loans, but I dont really know what the difference is or which ones I could actually get. If I understood financial aid better, I would feel more prepared and less worried about the future.(82 words)

One question I would like to be answered before my junior year ends would be "How do I know what college fits me best?" I ask this because there are so many colleges and so many that offer my major so should I just choose the cheapest option? In my opinion there is no point to spend a lot of money when I can go to community college and take the class I need. On the other hand I can go to a four year and have the college life and my major. So this is the main question I would like to be answered because my senior year is approaching.
