Clara Moreira never went to fine arts school. She learned to draw at home, inheriting her technique from her father and other popular artists in her family, in the suburbs of Recife. She says she has always drawn this way since she was a child, in this family environment, among popular artists and people who never went to art school, and believes that this gift is something generational and as a hobby until it becomes her profession.

The satin ribbons are part of the Brazilian affective imaginary, and have also become important allies for Clara Moreira's work. In a resplendent series of drawings, she finds inspiration in the accessories to create bodies that fly and dance through the paintings.

Since 2006, Clara Moreira has produced 67 posters for films and film festivals. During this period, no other graphic artist followed the production of Brazilian independent cinema as closely and exclusively as Clara, who uses hand made drawings, with techniques such as drawing in colored pencils, graphite, dry pastel, oil pastel, acrylic paint, ink and charcoal, without digital intervention. Among the cinema works, the creation of the posters for Recife Frio, O Som ao Redor and Bacurau by filmmaker Kleber Mendonça Filho stands out. For Clara, the cinema poster needs to awaken some kind of longing, “you know when you want to take a poster home? It was in search of this feeling that I started making movie posters, because I myself was and still am a collector and thief of movie posters that I loved.”  

As Tiago S'antanna, critic and artist, writes about Moreira's works: "Creating an atmosphere of strangeness and intimacy with her own body, Clara Moreira’s work serves as a kind of archive of performative and everyday gestures through drawing." Although her works suggest a dreamlike atmosphere, they combine the intimate and physical delicacy felt by her.
