It , maintains posture, and circulates blood throughout the body. The muscular system in <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vertebrate">vertebrates</a> is controlled through the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nervous_system">nervous system</a>, although some muscles (such as the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cardiac_muscle">cardiac muscle</a>) can be completely autonomous.
