Many of these Factories employed young non married women and children as they were cheaper than many male workforces. While many textiles were purchased from US factories by those within the US, but many other times textiles would be bought by Europeans. These goods would be shipped from ports in the New England region to ports in Europe where they would find their way to consumers.
