Violent extremism have been really common lately. Therefore, preventive measures should be taken to help empover the group of people that have the potantial to join violent activities. Although, ‘Manifesto for Education’ may be useful to sum extend to prevent violent extremism, this manifesto isn’t strong enough. To begin with, family should be informed how to comminicate with children in meaningful way before the education of children, because family plays a key role in preventive measures. If they have information enough, they are well-positioned to identify potential vulnerability, so they can ensure a safe environment for their children. Also, educators should interact with families , because family’s information andbackground help educators understand student’s behaviour better. Secondly, safe spaces should be ensured and trust should be build between people who have different ideas. Npnetheless, some people claim that educators should try to debate on a topic with children in a open way. The proponents of the issue do have a point, but building a safe palce is really hard. Students can be disturbed and they can hide themselves from others. Also, regrouping can bring out. Therefore, the concept of digital citizenship is to be created. Students can express their ideas more freely in online. In short, I aggre with the auther in the manifesto apart from my two counter-view. This manifesto can be applied to the Turkish education system. Curriculum is to be reorganised in order to ensure a platform where students can express their ideas freely without time limitation. Some activities can be prepared to expand student’s knowledge on the general nations, so students can learn skills to deal with dilemmas and challanges. I personally believe the core of the extremism stems from lack of critical thinking in children, solely because of bad parenting. Introducing children to religious dogmas early on their life can only be harmful, as they later in life become very vulnerable to similar teachings. Extremism is a similar teaching to religion. It promises a greater good without proof but belief. I'm not trying to spread an atheist agenda, or convince people that religious teachings are inherently bad, but they are a big factor.

I can think of two solutions. Short term solution would be educators' direct intervention to lives of children with extremism tendencies. The long term solution would be to educate people so that they don't teach religion to their children. I agree that violent expressions in schools potentially leading to radicalization, which is perceived to be a threat to democratic values and it should be prevented. Educators have a role in preventing the violent extremism of course, but I believe parents’ role is much more important. Because if there is a problem, it should be solved in the very first place. Encouraging parents to bring up their children in the same way with educators and schools can give effective results. It should be taught that being different and having different opinions from any other person isn’t a bad thing. Also we need to prevent inequality and sexism in education system.
