I have not used renewable assignments in my modules yet. I have only recently learnt about renewable assignments. I would love to try letting students compile quizzes and the development of a wiki page. I am a bit scared of the wiki page though.

For my TEFL course, there is an online activity where the students can post something (with regard to TEFL), and then other students can also comment and add information. This seems similar to Wikipedia, just on a much smaller scale.

This activity has not been very effective yet, because the students do not complete the course at the same time, and the activity does not count formal mark. Students being students, not many partake in the activity.

But I can definitely see the implementation of this into my language classrooms. For example, students need to prepare for a session, and before I present my teaching moment, the students need to do their own research and add it to a page (like Wikipedia). If a student(s) made a mistake, another one can rectify it. Or other students can add additional information, and then we can compare their information with my teaching moment.

I have a project with my honours students where they run a live news website, as part of module outcomes, all work they publish is assessed. So they are write news for the "world", not just for the lecturer. Well, a smaller world, their audience are local community members and other students. I never thought of this as renewable assessment, but I think it is?

Group 3: It was somewhat difficult to rank the options. If the context has the necessary resources, everything can be done. The Videos will take longer than Tests and Quizzes. The subjects also need to be taken into consideration. Tests and Quizzes might not be as applicable to Maths when compared to Languages. Concept videos will also aid students with terminology (especially in the South African context).

In our group we had two members who have used renewable assignments before. Wikipedia was discussed and the challenges that were faced when students had to develop a page, but also that Wikipedia is a desirable platform because it is more visible than creating a new web page. The other member used quizzes. From the discussion I believe that developing a Wikipedia page is more difficult but also very rewarding.
