These flowers together are part of a larger ecosystem. They require sunlight, water, pollination to survive. The soil that support the flowers also is crucial. Maybe this is what community is? A series of systems which all rely on one another for the healthy functioning of society and the individual. I feel this is a bit idealistic and probably not the case in reality across all societies. :-)

]]> 2018-03-03 11:00:21 UTC https://padlet.com/mcrichto1/cqj14mz591ln/wish/237673681 janeodwyer https://padlet.com/mcrichto1/cqj14mz591ln/wish/237857576 I to was also going to choose the penguins but after reading the post above on flowers I changed my mind.  While I think the penguin does represent the circle of a community I think these circles can be very loose and as stated above have a lot that goes into them/contributes to them.  They also change over time depending on some of the inputs.  Small communities within larger communities connecting and overlapping with other communities. From a distance to someone from the outside a larger community can look like 1 big community but once you look closer there are smaller communities within. Like a I imagine a field of flowers, if you looked closely some would grow differently depending on inputs like soil, water etc.
Thinking of my own communities and trying to draw them as circles I could see a lot over lapping and some completely separate to others. It was interesting to try and draw them as circles.

There appears to be a distinction between each penguin, light, dark, tall, short maybe male and female and young adult. They present strong and confident and are joined by common values that support the community to grow and thrive. Each community member is valued and contributes to something bigger than themselves.
