"The Garden as a Space for Sustainable Learning and Cultural Connection"Children from different backgrounds create, explore, and learn together in the garden, where sustainability, digitalization, Montessori approaches, and literacy intersect. The garden becomes an outdoor classroom where children develop scientific, linguistic, and social skills through play, storytelling, and hands-on activities.

Αναζητώντας τα λαογραφικά μοτίβα κάθε χώρας, οι μαθητές απεικόνισαν με ζωγραφική στοιχεία απο αυτά.Στην συνέχεια, με την βοήθεια της τεχνολογίας, δημιουργήθηκαν εξ αυτών τα τρία αρχικά γράμματα του τίτλου του έργου μας.

Κατά τη διάρκεια του εργαστηρίου, τα παιδιά συνεργάστηκαν με ενθουσιασμό, ανακάτεψαν τα υλικά, έμαθαν τα βήματα της συνταγής και παρακολούθησαν τη διαδικασία παρασκευής των τηγανίτων. Οι γονείς μοιράστηκαν με όλους παραδοσιακές συνταγές και έθιμα από την Αλβανία, δημιουργώντας μια ζεστή και γιορτινή ατμόσφαιρα.

Οι μυρωδιές από τις φρεσκοψημένες τηγανίτες πλημμύρισαν το σχολείο και το αποτέλεσμα ενθουσίασε μικρούς και μεγάλους.

During the Christmas season, our school was filled with aromas, smiles and festive mood through a special cooking workshop. Students, parents and teachers participated in the preparation of traditional Albanian pancakes.
During the workshop, the children collaborated enthusiastically, mixed the ingredients, learned the steps of the recipe and watched the process of preparing the pancakes. The parents shared traditional Albanian recipes and customs with everyone, creating a warm and festive atmosphere.

The smells of freshly baked pancakes filled the school and the result delighted young and old.

Μια ομάδα παιδιών στο σχολείο αναλαμβάνει ρόλο μικρών κηπουρών και καλλιεργεί κρητικό κόκκινο μαρούλι στον σχολικό λαχανόκηπο. Με ενθουσιασμό και συνεργασία, τα παιδιά μαθαίνουν πώς να φροντίζουν τα φυτά από την αρχή μέχρι τη συγκομιδή.

Αρχικά, ετοιμάζουν το χώμα καθαρίζοντάς το και προσθέτοντας φυσικό λίπασμα. Στη συνέχεια, φυτεύουν τα μικρά φυτά μαρουλιού σε σειρές, αφήνοντας τον απαραίτητο χώρο για να μεγαλώσουν σωστά.

Έτσι, έγινε η έναρξη του Ευρωπαικού κήπου καλλιεργώντας ένα τοπικό λαχανικό.

Επιπλέον, μία άλλη ομάδα μαθητών με την βοήθεια μαθητριών του συστεγαζόμενου δημοτικού σχολείου , δημιούργησαν μια ειδική γωνιά για την αποθήκευση και οργάνωση των εργαλείων κήπου, συμβάλλοντας έτσι στην καλύτερη λειτουργία και φροντίδα του χώρου.

A group of children at school take on the role of little gardeners and grow Cretan red lettuce in the school vegetable garden. With enthusiasm and cooperation, the children learn how to care for the plants from the beginning to the harvest. First, they prepare the soil by cleaning it and adding natural fertilizer. Then, they plant the little lettuce plants in rows, leaving the necessary space for them to grow properly. Thus, the European garden was started by growing a local vegetable.

In addition , another group of students ,with the help of students from the co-located primary school, created a special corner for the storage of garden tools, thus contributing to the better functioning and care of the space.

Σημαντικό ρόλο σε αυτή τη διαδικασία έχει η εφαρμογή του θεατρικού παιχνιδιού, μέσα από το οποίο τα παιδιά δραματοποιούν ιστορίες, υποδύονται ρόλους, κινούνται ελεύθερα στον χώρο και εκφράζονται δημιουργικά.

Παράλληλα, η τεχνική των «μικρών βιβλίων» δίνει στα παιδιά τη δυνατότητα να δημιουργήσουν τα δικά τους μικρά παραμύθια, ζωγραφίζοντας, γράφοντας και αφηγούμενα ιστορίες εμπνευσμένες από τον κήπο και τις εμπειρίες τους. Με αυτόν τον τρόπο, τα παιδιά γίνονται μικροί συγγραφείς και εικονογράφοι, αναπτύσσοντας τη γλωσσική έκφραση, τη δημιουργικότητα και την αγάπη για το βιβλίο.

Children's literature in the kindergarten garden gives life to nature and transforms every corner into a world full of fairy tales! 
An important role in this process is played by the application of theatrical play, through which children dramatize stories, play roles, move freely in space and express themselves creatively. 
At the same time, the technique of "little books" gives children the opportunity to create their own little fairy tales, drawing, writing and telling stories inspired by the garden and their experiences.

Ο κήπος γίνεται έτσι ένα ανοιχτό βιβλίο γνώσης και χαράς, όπου κάθε παιδί κάνει τα πρώτα του βήματα στο πεδίο της γραφής και της ανάγνωσης.

A special place in the activities is given to getting to know the herbs of the garden. Children observe, touch and smell plants such as mint, basil, oregano and thyme. They learn their names and record them on a reference board with words and images, which they have created themselves using a camera, thus enhancing their language development, observation and contact with nature. The garden thus becomes an open book of knowledge and joy, where each child takes his first steps in the field of writing and reading.

The discovery of the senses in the school garden is of particular importance. Children observe the environment around them and learn to recognize and use the verbs: “I hear”, “I see”, “I touch”, “I smell”. They hear the chirping of birds and the rustling of leaves, see the colors of flowers, touch the soil and leaves, smell the aromatic plants and express their experiences through discussion, painting and recording words. In this way, the garden is transformed into a living space of experiential learning, where children cultivate language, imagination, cooperation and love for nature.

Στην αυλή του νηπιαγωγείου μας οργανώθηκε μια δράση Land Art με βασικά υλικά πέτρες και φύλλα που τα παιδιά συνέλεξαν από τον χώρο της αυλής Αρχικά, έγινε συζήτηση για τη φύση και τα χρώματα που συναντάμε γύρω μας. Τα παιδιά παρατήρησαν τα διαφορετικά σχήματα των φύλλων και τα μεγέθη των πετρών, αγγίζοντας και εξερευνώντας τα υλικά με όλες τους τις αισθήσεις.

Στη συνέχεια, χωρίστηκαν σε δύο ομάδες.Η μία ομάδα μάζεψε πέτρες, η άλλη φύλλα.Οι δύο ομάδες μαζί δημιούργησαν πάνω στο έδαφος τον λαμπερό ανοιξιάτικο ήλιο.

A particularly interesting form of artistic expression is Land Art, that is, art created with natural materials from the environment, such as stones, leaves, wood and soil. A Land Art activity was organized in the yard of our kindergarten with basic materials stones and leaves that the children collected from the yard. Initially, there was a discussion about nature and the colors we encounter around us. The children observed the different shapes of the leaves and the sizes of the stones, touching and exploring the materials with all their senses. Then, they were divided into two groups. One group collected stones, the other leaves. Together, the two groups created the bright spring sun on the ground.

Κατά τη διάρκεια του εργαστηρίου φτιάξαμε παραδοσιακό κυπριακό χαλούμι σαγανάκι. Οι γονείς βοήθησαν τα παιδιά στην προετοιμασία της συνταγής, εξηγώντας τα υλικά και τα μυστικά της παραδοσιακής μαγειρικής. Οι μαθητές συμμετείχαν με ενθουσιασμό.

With great joy, a special cooking workshop on the theme of traditional Cypriot cuisine was held at our school. Students, parents and teachers collaborated and created a beautiful celebration of flavors, joy and cooperation.

During the workshop, we made traditional Cypriot halloumi saganaki. The parents helped the children prepare the recipe, explaining the ingredients and the secrets of traditional cooking. The students participated with enthusiasm

Στα παλιά τα χρόνια, όταν είχε πολύ καιρό να βρέξει, έντυναν ένα κορίτσι «περπερούνα», δηλαδή το στόλιζαν με φύλλα και χλωρά κλαδιά. Το κορίτσι αυτό, μαζί με άλλα παιδιά, γύριζε από πόρτα σε πόρτα στα σπίτια του χωριού και όλοι μαζί τραγουδούσαν:

Περπερούνα περπατεί
και το Θιο παρακαλεί
για να βρέξει μια βροχή,
μια βροχή, μια σιγανή,
για να γέν’ τα στάρια μας
κι τα καλαμπόκια μας.
Μπάρις, μπάρις τα νιρά,
μπάρις, μπάρις τα κρασιά.

Όταν τέλειωνε το τραγούδι, έριχναν λίγο νερό πάνω στην περπερούνα, έτσι για το γούρι, και περίμεναν να έρθει επιτέλους μια καλή βροχή.

In the old days, when it was a long time before it rained, they would dress a girl as a “perperouna”, that is, they would decorate her with leaves and green branches. This girl, along with other children, would go from door to door to the houses of the village and they would all sing together:

Perperouna walks
and the God begs
for a rain,
a rain, a gentle rain,
so that our wheat
and our corn may grow.
Rain, rain the waters,
rain, rain the wines.

When the song ended, they would pour some water on the perperuna, as a good luck charm, and wait for a good rain to finally come.

To create the project flag, inspired by our logo, we asked families to bring a small piece of fabric to school. Then, the team responsible for the flag was organized. We visited Mrs. Anna, the mother of our student, who guided the children in the composition and then sewed the fabrics onto the fabric.

In the framework of the Erasmus Job Shadowing Poučujmo vezenosti!/Let's teach outside! hosted by the KEPEA of Vamos, with teachers from Primary Schools and Environmental Centers of Slovenia: Saša Lotrič (CŠOD Peca), Aleš Prapertnik (CŠOD Prvine), Mija Penca Vehovec (OŠ Žužemberk), David Ivačič (OŠ Podčetrtek) our herb garden continues to grow with the addition of four new aromatic herbs! The children of our Kindergarten welcomed them to a herb garden, where the Slovenian teachers had the opportunity to plant aromatic plants together with the students!
