I chose Vivian because she is so unapologetically Chinese. She imbraces who she is and shares her culture with the world. I love her confidence and food! P.S. I started a continuous pickle brine jar because of her and love it.

My ultimate career desire is to travel and write. I want to write about the places I stop at, the food I eat, the people I meet, and my experiences on the road.

Two sought-after magazines that I'd love to write for are Travel + Leisure and Wanderlust. Writing for these magazines would be a dream come true because it would allow me to share my passion for exploration and cultural immersion with a wide audience. I believe reading travel magazines inspires readers to embark on a journey that will transform their lives. By contributing to these publications, I would have the opportunity to showcase my writing skills, learn from experienced editors, and be part of a community that celebrates the beauty and diversity of our world.

The most requested recipe in our home is Baking Powder Biscuits. It is a recipe you can find anywhere online these days, but I learned it before YouTube became a thing. I had to memorize it because I wasn't allowed to write it down. My granny said, "It needs to be memorized because memorizing everything will keep your mind strong." She wasn't wrong.

I taught this to my children and, by tradition, made them memorize it as well.

1/2 cup shortening

2 cups flour

3 teaspoons baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

3/4 cup milk

Mix the shortening and flour with knives in crosshatch motion.

Add the baking powder and salt, and continue mixing in crosshatch motion.

Add in milk last, and mix with a wooden spoon.

Turn out onto a floured work area and pat out into a square or rectangle.

Cut dough into squares and move to an ungreased baking sheet.

Bake at 450 degrees for 10 minutes.

These are good for any time of the day. In our home, we make them on meal prep day, and whenever they're gone, they're gone. A double batch will last about 3 days in our house... if I'm lucky, haha.
