José Rizal, whose full name was José Protasio Rizal Mercado y Alonso Realonda, was a Filipino patriot, physician, and writer who served as a source of motivation for the Philippine nationalist movement. He was born on June 19, 1861, in Calamba, Philippines, and passed away on December 30, 1896, in Manila. Rizal, who was the son of a wealthy landowner, had his education in Manila and then continued his studies at the University of Madrid. He was a talented medical student who, early on, devoted himself to working for the reform of Spanish rule in his own country, the Philippines; nonetheless, he never pushed for Filipino independence. During the years 1882 and 1892, he lived in Europe, and it was at this time that he produced the most of his work.

https://www.britannica.com/biography/Jose-Rizal

Rizal's first book, "Noli me tangere," also known as "The Social Cancer," was released in 1887. It was an impassioned exposé of the ills of Spanish authority in the Philippines. El filibusterismo (1891), often known as The Reign of Greed, was a sequel written by him that cemented his name as the most prominent advocate for the Philippine reform movement. He released an annotated version of Antonio Morga's Sucesos de las Islas Filipinas in 1890, and it was reissued in 1958. His goal was to demonstrate that the indigenous people of the Philippines had a lengthy history prior to the arrival of the Europeans. He rose to the position of leader within the Propaganda Movement and became a contributor to the Barcelona-based journal, La Solidaridad, where he wrote several pieces. Rizal's political agenda called for the unification of the Philippines as a province of Spain, representation in the Cortes (the Spanish parliament), the substitution of Filipino priests for Spanish friars, freedom of assembly and speech, and legal equality between Filipinos and Spaniards.

WHY NEED TO STUDY RIZAL?

It is essential to not only acquire knowledge about Rizal but also to develop a sense of admiration and respect for the man. It's possible that the life we led before we won our freedom can be brought to life through his works and contributions, particularly through his books. owing to the fact that the influence he had on the country is not capable of being measured in terms of monetary value. Since Jose Rizal was so devoted to his country, in the end, he paid the ultimate price for his patriotism by being executed. It was such a bold move on his part to risk his own life for an accusation and to serve as a role model in the revolt of the Filipino people. He was a martyr. When we continue our research and study of Rizal's life, we could be surprised and given a fresh viewpoint on the man as a result of what we discover. Apart from this, familiarizing ourselves with Rizal's writings may also assist us in cultivating a more optimistic perspective on life. Rizal also inspires us to make significant contributions that can contribute to the growth of our nation, and much like his goals and objectives, we too need to fight for our freedom, fight for our justice, and fight for our rights in order to achieve the victory of all people regardless and to cultivate the tool of writing. It is essential to study not just the life and works of Rizal but also the lives of other national heroes since the contribution that they give to the country cannot be replicated. Even if our age, which is younger, has only a limited understanding of their lives and the circumstances in which the works they have made were created, we are impacted by them. What would be the results of our investigation into this matter further? It seems to reason that we will pick up a significant amount of new information as well as new ideas from their efforts. the feeling of attachment that individuals have for their country. especially Rizal, who is the most powerful of the three of them. Some people believe that the power of the written word is greater than that of the sword. As a result of the fact that the wounds produced by verbal weapons do not heal fast and create further personality damage, the Spanish are the source of the pain he experiences at the hands of them. The damage that may be done by verbal assaults is not going to be readily repaired. If all of the younger generations also inherit this kind of care and patriotism for the nation, then without a doubt we will have a never-ending cycle of disengaged young people who will soon be in positions of authority. If, on the other hand, they do not inherit this type of care and patriotism for the nation, then we will not have this problem.

RIZAL IN THE 21ST CENTURY

It is possible that the lessons that Jose Rizal passed on to the Filipino people, and more specifically to the younger generation, will help them rededicate their lives to the ideals of independence and nationalism for which our ancestors fought and died. This is particularly true for the young. It is also essential to honor him for dedicating his life and works to the process of molding the personality of the Filipino people, and it is also essential to draw inspiration for one's own sense of patriotism from the works that he has penned. Both of these things are extremely important. It is possible to acquire a respect for, and a greater grasp of, everything that Rizal fought and died for by establishing an awareness of how the values and teachings of Rizal may be related to the present conditions and concerns of our society. We are a youthful generation that has been entrusted with the responsibility of determining the course that our country will take in the future. Because of this, we have the desire to develop ourselves, and who could be a more perfect source of inspiration than Rizal? As all Rizal accomplished in his life was write literature, the majority of people are perplexed as to why it is important to study his life story since all he did was write books. With his writings, he was able to bring to light the cruel and abusive character of the policies that the Spanish invaders had implemented against the people of the Philippines. In addition to this, he inspired the people of his nation to take up weapons and fight for what they believed was right. As a result of this, he was found guilty and given a prison sentence; however, he did not allow this to discourage him and instead used it as motivation to continue writing. Rizal is the one who lifted up his generation and called attention to the fact that the future of our country is in the hands of our young people. He is credited with being the one who pulled up his generation. Rizal's life may have a lot of lessons for us to learn, one of which is the significance of being aware of what is taking place in our country and of resolutely refusing to passively accept the injustice that is done to us in our own nation. It is attributed to Rizal that he once said, "The Filipino is worth dying for."
