Queen - Don't Stop Me Now
Right off the bat the song key is an F Major
time signature 4/4
Mercury uses techniques such as...
1) Glissandos (e.g. "In ecstacy")
2) Vibrato (e.g. "Tonight im gonna have Myself")
3) Head Voice falsetto (e.g."Floating around")
4) Chest voice (e.g. "And the world")

however the intro is a slower pace!

First, 20 secs in there is a mixture of chords
and arpeggio being played on the piano
and on the 6th bar piano and vocals are accompanied
with the bass being played on a higher scale.
Surprisingly the bass is played only 4 bars into the intro
then drops out.

last bars of the intro is sung in staccato by the choir
as well as the piano being played sharply
by doing so this creates a feeling of anticipation
as to what comes next.
From the intro to the verse the transition is from a slow pace
to a faster pace.

Taylor (drummer) hits the hi hats on bars 14 and 15
whilst gradually taking his foot off the foot pedal
to open the hi hat and let the sound resonate.
Overall the drum pattern is pretty basic, a simple snare hit on 2 and 4 throughout. However the cymbal and snare are being played together on 2 and 4 only in the chorus.
At 1:46 choir joins in to harmonize with the lead singer and emphasise the word "explode" by altering the dynamics by slowly getting louder (crescendo) to catch the audience off guard like an "explosion".
2 bars in the bridge all instruments drop out except the drums.
vocals come in for 7 bars accompained by the choir with ooh and aahs. 8th bar drummer gets a quick snare fill in which leads to the guitar solo.

Something I found unusual was the guitar solo being whilst the lead singer sings the chorus because usually, guitar solo stops as soon as the chorus starts.

The levels of all instruments have been mixed down perfectly which means different frequency ranges are evenly distributed thus adding to the clarity of the song as a whole.Nothing is overpowering another. For example the bass seems to be the hardest to mix down because its the lowest sound. However its in the background but just enough to hear and feel

Bpm: 95
Key: Am
Michael uses techniques such as...
legato notes ( in the chorus "you")
Chest voice throughout
Vibrato (in the chorus "you")
Instruments used

Bass

Piano

Voice

muted plucks on the guitar

melody on the strings

Kick, clap, triangle and shakers

What I find interesting is the change in dynamics in the chorus. The word "you" gradually gets louder. No surprise that Michael has his signature sounds of grunts which makes the song his own. Second thing I find interesting is the chorus comes in a half a bar late.
