In my opinion, commumication skills are important based on the few reasons below.

1. Message can be delivered accurately. In the process of conveying one's message to one's target audience, someone with good communication skills can simplify complex terms into simple terms, straight to the point, use simple words to explain things, avoid the usage of filler words. Listeners will be able to understand the information given easily.

2. Help to avoid conflicts. The occurence of conflicts often stems from the fact that speaker misuses words and listeners misinterpret the information. Speaker should avoid the usage of ambiguous terms, chooses his or her words carefully and speak in a polite manner so that listeners will not misunderstand the meaning behind the speaker's speech.

3. You can speak confidently. Stuttering, not knowing what to say and sweating nervously while presenting your assignments in front of your friends/lecturers/colleagues/boss might not be the best thing to experience in your life. This is the demonstration of lack of good communication skills. By perfecting one's communicatiom skill, all these nightmares can be avoided and someone will be able to do a presentation professionally.

4. Maintains/Improves relationship among people. When your friend is down and depressed, you have the ability to comfort your friend and give quality advice to him or her. Your friend is no longer sad and starting to get his or her life together again thanks to you. Knowing what should be said or what should not be said are important for speakers as speakers might end up saying hurtful if speakers are not careful.

5. Able to convince someone. If a salesman wanted to sell someting to a customer, but the salesman speaks in a dull and unconvincing manner. Would the customer buy the product? Most likely not. In other scenario, communication skills play a more vital role. Imagine that you were charged with a murder that you did not commit, would you hire a lawyer with bad communication skills?
