         <description><![CDATA[<div>The CCC employed men, primarily age 18 to 25. They came from families on government assistance and had to sign up for six months of work. The workers received $30 a month, but had to send at least $22 home to support their families.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Criticisms of the CCC</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Even though it was strongly supported by the public, it was initially criticized from organized labor. Trade unions didn't like the training of unskilled workers when they were out of work. Trade unions also disliked the army's involvement in the CCC. The government compensated the critics by giving them control in some areas of the CCC.</div>]]></description>
