By luring sailors with their song, Sirens are able to hypnotize them and ultimately crash their boats. Within the Odyssey, Circe warns Odysseus about the Sirens, saying of them, "Next where the Sirens dwell, you plough the seas; Their song is death, and makes destruction please".
