She is best known for her film career during the 1930 and 1940, appearing in such films as Algiers (1938), I Take This Woman (1940) and Samson and Delilah (1949). But what she is really known for was her work in the field of wireless communications, that is, the wi-fi system, which she invented during World War II. She and composer George Antheil developed a frequency system to prevent enemies from jamming Allied radio-controlled torpedoes. The system is an early example of the technology and is still in use in many wireless technologies, such as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. She is 85 years old now
