This art work is a sculpture called Non-Violence or The Knotted Gun by a Danish artist called Carl Fredrik Reuterswärd. I think it is linked to Article 19 of the UN CRC as it shows a gun which could be used to hurt or even kill children being disabled and made safe. The sculpture was inspired by the killing of the singer John Lennon from The Beatles. You might know Lennon's song Imagine which asks us to create a more peaceful world. The image of the knotted gun is the symbol of The Non Violence Project - a global organisation which aims to reduce violence and conflict. You can learn more about it here:
https://nonviolence.com/
Task: Sorry about my grumpy face. Can you tell me where in the world I took this selfie? Do you have any idea why I was there? Who are the people in the background?

I think that this work of art Represents quality education and peace justice and strong institutions. The doves indicate peace and the girl holding a book education for all. Also I think that the black lines around her suggests that these two goals are powerful and would make the world a better place. This picture speaks to me because I feel that this girl is ready to conquer the world!

This Art is called Graduating Girl (Version 2) #1 belongs to a series of paintings by Ligon based on some colouring books made in the 1970s by Black people and for Black people. These publications show cased opportunities for positive self-representation during the civil rights era. The book had drawings of notable figures such as Harriet Tubman and Malcolm X and other anonymous characters doing everyday activities, like children blowing bubbles. “The colouring books fascinated me because they were so clearly linked with the project of black liberation,” Ligon explained. “Any depiction of a black person . . . was a little revolution because it meant that our histories, stories, images and heroes mattered.”

Ligon asked children between the ages of three and nine to colour images from the colouring books, then created paintings inspired by their drawings. Ligon often interprets images and words through repetition and reproduction.

The image is linked to the UNCRC 28 "Access to Education" because every child has a right to have an education and the UNCRC 30 "Minority Culture, Language and Religion" because Children have the right to use their own language, culture and religion - even if these are not shared by most people in the country where they live and they should not be discriminated just because they are a different ethnicity.

This is a portrait of three children who I assume are friends because they are smiling.
I think this painting is linked to UNCRC - 2 (No discrimination)
I think this because in the painting two of the girls are a different skin colour two the other one but they still look to be happy and enjoying them selves. This shows that even then in 1941 people were aware of the problem of discrimination.

This piece of art is by the UNICEF themselves. I found this art on a website called "moma.org" and I love how this art symbolizes so many things regarding children. Also, I really love how its so simple and all ready shows us what is it related to.
I think this relates to goal 1 (definition of a child), goal 6 as this shows an empty can (how some people can't reach this goal), goal 19, as its really sealed and I think this isn't just a bottle, it's a "visual" imagery to show us "what safe for children", finally goal 24. As this can be filled in with anything, water would be what most people think of.
https://www.moma.org/collection/works/94607

This piece of art is found on pinterest and is made by Julie Lord. i think this links global goal number 11, 13, 14, 15. These goals are about the environment and this painting is about saving the environment and warning people about climate change and how it could destroy the Earth. People will soon turn the Earth into the red Earth and will need people to save the colourful Earth like what the hand is doing. People need to be united together to stop climate change and life on water and land.

This artwork is called the ‘The Children of Nathan Starr’ and it belongs to an American artist name Ambrose Andrew (1801-1877).

This painting is linked to the following UNCRC: Goal number 5 (family guidance as children develop), Goal number 24 (health, water, food and environment), Goal number 27 (food clothing and a safe home) and lastly, goal number 31 (rest, play, culture, arts)

Although this artwork has quite a few connections with the goals. However, in my opinion, this piece of art has mostly demonstrated goal number 5 and 31. The reason for this is that this artist has expressed goal number 31 by painting the family together playing badminton together for entertainment and the facial expressions on the family members (if you look closely, you could see the members showing their smile). Family guidance as the children develop is simply shown on this artwork because since without the support and the guidance of your family member (in my opinion, support and guidance always begins and led by the parents, which in this case, the mother is the guidance and the supporter in the drawing) this painting could be drew as a chaotic scenery.

Despite the fact that this artwork has mainly presented goal number 5 and 31, goal number 24 and 27 has also made a well appearance in the drawing. The reason for this is that Ambrose has painted an intricate background which has indicated the picturesque environment (which means that there are no danger). Not only the children are enjoying their time, the children are also dressed in quality clothing

This piece of artwork is called "Adrift Refugee Children" by Connie Fried. I it links to Articles 19 (Protection from violence), 20 (Children without families) and 22 (Refugee children). This painting depicts scared-looking children. We can infer that these children have been separated from or no longer have their families. The children are refugees and so have been probably caught in the crossfire of violence. It is extremely important that children are able to stay safe with their families and not have to flee from their home country. Sadly, this still happens in many parts of the world, but we should all take action to eliminate it.

This photograph is called: "Starving Child and Vulture". It was taken by Kevin Carter in 1993. In my opinion, this picture is linked with articles 6 (life survival and development), 24 (health, water, food, environment) and 27 (food, clothing, a safe home). The photograph is of a starved child in Sudan (Africa) who collapsed on his way to a feeding centre. Not long after, a vulture landed and waited for the child to die; ready for its next meal. The photographer however was not able to help as the child may be carrying diseases. This shows that having enough food is very important as well as people to look after you – nobody was with the boy to properly help him at the time. This still happens in poor countries around the world so we need to start helping and making sure to help them. One way we could do this is by not wasting any food as – shown in the picture – many people need it.
I found this image on http://100photos.time.com/photos/kevin-carter-starving-child-vulture#photograph

This photograph is called: "Starving Child and Vulture". It was taken by Kevin Carter in 1993. I think this photograph links to articles 27 ( YOU SHOULD HAVE THE CONDITIONS YOU NEED),24 (YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO HEALTHCARE ), and 6 (YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO LIVE). this photograph is of a starved child in Sudan (Africa) who collapsed on his way to a feeding center. Not long after, a vulture landed and waited for the child to die; ready for its next meal. The photographer, however, was not able to help as the child may be carrying diseases.

The painting features two girls, one sitting in front of the piano gazing at the sheet music whilst the other girl stands behind her looking at the sheet music too. As if to help or provide guidance on how to play that sheet of music, this painting directly links to articles 17 (access to information), 28 (access to education), 29 (aims of education) and 31 (rest, play, culture, arts).

Lastly, the flags also represent the ability for children to have access to contact their parents overseas.

I chose this particular work of art because I believe it shows life before society began prioritising the rights and needs of children. It was created in 1942 by Käthe Kollwitz. The image being children holding out empty bolds has a phrase underneath, reading 'ask the women and children whom Hitler is starving whether rationing is too great a "sacrifice" '. This caught my eye because it reminded me that this treaty was only brought up in 1990, so art pieces such as this one represents the limited access society once gave to children and the opportunity we have to grow and become a better community for the younger generations.
https://www.moma.org/collection/works/5051?classifications=any&date_begin=Pre-
1850&date_end=2020&locale=en&page=1&q=children&with_images=1

I chose this photograph as I think it directly links to the UNCRC. This is because the children are clearly in an area stricken by war. The soldier is helping them, with a smile on his face. This links to articles 6, 19 and 38. This is because the children, although being in a dangerous place, are being taken care of by someone who is showing them support, and helping them emotionally. The children are being fed and being kept safe and it shows that children do not have to be yours for you to help and protect them. This is emphasised as the American soldier is sharing his own food rations with the Japanese children. It does not matter if the children are from a country you are at war with, they are children and they deserve to be protected.

Source ; https://artsandculture.google.com/asset/ngE2Xu24XLqjDw

This is street art made by Banksy who is a street artist and also is a person who confronts politicians, world leaders and the general public for being hypocritical and not following the CRC. By placing his artworks on streets and walls this way anyone can see his art and no one can turn a blind eye to to the issues he raises.
To me this shows children or refugees being held in a detention centre.
Their "home" looks dull and depressing, contained by a barbed wired fence, when the world out side is like paradise. This alone is breaking multiple different articles - such as article 3 (best interest of the child), 22 ( refugee children get appropriate protection, the rights stated in other articles, and should not be separated from their family) and 37 (no child should be imprisoned or detained). and no child deserves to live in conditions like these. Children being held in detention centres is still happening all around the world in countries like: USA, China, Australia and many more. I found out afterward that this artwork is in Bethlehem (Israel). He could possibly be challenging Israeli citizens and the government on how they treat children in Palestine.

I found this image on this link: https://kids.kiddle.co/Banksy

This monument is of the 1000 paper cranes maker, Sadako Sasaki which can be found in Hiroshima Peace Park. The 1000 paper cranes in iconic, mostly for representing Sadako Sasaki, who was a young girl, who had a dream to be a great runner, however whenever she ran, she would get dizzy. When she went to the hospital, she realised that she had leukaemia. She herself, knew that before then, no-one who had leukaemia had ever gotten out of it. One day, her friend told her the story of 1000 cranes, where if 1000 were made, then god would heal you. Continuously, she would strive with all the determination she had to make 1000 paper cranes. Despite all the pain she was going through, she was still determined, day after day, hoping to stay alive. She was able to create 644 before she passed away. I believe that this monument is represents articles 3 ( the best interests of the child) 6( children's survival and development) 24 (health and healthcare) and 31 (play and cultural and artistic activities).

This picture is taken by Jessie Tarbox Beals in c. 1910. It is a picture of three girls who are physically defective. I chose this picture because it links to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child 2 which is "no discrimination" as this picture shows girls who have a physical difference to others. By taking a photo of this, it raises awareness to people that no matter where they are from, what language they speak, how they think or what their religion is, all children have the right to raise their voice and be treated fairly as any other child. No one deserves any less just because of how they were born, people should not teach children how to look at their imperfections and hate on it but instead people should teach children on how to embrace them and show them to the world and be confident with it and teach them that no one is perfect. No children should be taught that way and think in that negative mentality of not being good enough or feel that they are isolated and discriminated against. No children should be treated differently for any reason.

This painting made me think, what would it look like if it was clear. Would it be a countryside or the sea? It gave me a message that we have blurred the earth and damaged it. Becoming a mess in front of our eyes. Maybe it is up to us to save it and create a new future for the rest of the world.
I'm not trying to say this artwork is damaged.

This photograph is called "Story Time".It is taken by Rachel Whiteread in 2008. I think it is linked to articles 4 and 5. This photo shows a lot of toys, no matter boy or girl, big or small, all sat around to listen to a story. This shows that people can do lots of different activities together with people who are different to them and a world that treats different genders equally. Now, the people should start thinking about how to stop this fro going on through the years.

This painting stood out to me as there is two little boys in the corner: the boy with the orange coat is trying to throw a rock at the one in a green coat, this is related to both goal number 2 and goal number 19 as they are both related to violence and discrimination. Also, inside the house there are older children and adults reading while an old man is in the middle teaching them. This relates to goal 28, which is access to education.

The name of this artwork is "A childs dream with parents more time". The author is Mia Koch and it was done in 1993. It reminds me the UN children right article 9(separation from parents), all children have the right to stay with their parents; also the article 13 (freedom of expression), the author is able to express his or her feeling in this artwork, this is also a right of him/her.
I found this art work from the website of The International Museum of Children's Art.

This piece of art is called the Fisherman's Farewell. I think it's about a papa who has to leave his child and wife for work and he might not be back. this is related to the UNCR because goal is 5 (Family guidance as children develop) and so his papa won't be there to see him grow up and thrive and be there for him.

I have chosen a painting by Auguste Renoir called "Two Young Girls at the Piano" painted in 1892.

I chose this piece of art to connect to the UNCRC because in this picture there is a school girl reading to her siblings and this links to child rights because it links to article 28 (Access to education). She knows how to read or is learning how to read because she goes to school and gets educated.

I chose this art piece as having a connection to the UNCRC because I believe the energy of this art piece links to a few articles, including article 7 because of the flags which are dotted around the canvas to represent nationality, also articles 31 and 10 as i feel that the coloured, abstract shapes represent creativity and playfulness.

I choose this image because it's showed death 'grabbing' at a group of children. Reflecting on the issue of low infancy survival rate in developing countries. Directly linking to article 6 of "All children have the right to live and be protected". Showing that some of the children rights are still not being very protected by the government even if it is as simple as having the rights to live.

I believe that this picture links to articles number 13 to 15 which are, "charing thought freely", "freedom of thoughts and religions" ( in this case thoughts) and finally "setting up or joining groups". All those articles are linked to this image because they are protesting, sharing their thoughts out-loud and they're forming a group all together.

This is a portrait of Mary Somerville, a Scottish scientist. The painting itself doesn’t really convey any messages to me, but Mary actually helped to explain the Solar System. She also had a nickname: the Queen of Science. I feel like this is a perfect representation of article 28: access to education, as it shows that anybody, even a female in the 1700s/1800s, can achieve a lot when they have access to education and knowledge.

This piece of art is just of a water container, but it means so much. This is a picture of the water containers that UNICEF and UNHCR distribute around to those in need, in particular to refugees in refugee settlements. This relates to 22, which states that refugee children should have and get help and assistance and have the same rights as a child born in that country. Although it doesn't help the latter, it ensures that they get help and assistance. This also directly links to 24 which states that all children should have the right to clean water.

This piece of art is called Woman Entrusts Herself to Death by Käthe Kollwitz. It's about a mother who has lost all hope to have a good life, and accepts her death.

However, only the mother shakes hands with Death, this might symbolise that the child is being left behind.

I think this links to article 20, children without families.

I chose this photo because what I find inspiring is that Kate age 11 used an everyday item (something you might find around the house) and made it into art. the second reason that I have chosen this peace of art is not only her use of creativity but also the emotion that she has put into this peace of art and story that it is telling behind it.

I don't know why but this image makes me think about how we should all be treated equally, not nesseceraly the same, because there are still people in the world who might need to get treated differently.

This image also makes me think about how you should never judge a book by its cover. And respect people for who they are.

I hope that this image also brings a message on you.

Thank you.
