Peacock Feather's are cool !

The colored, iridescent feathers of the male peacock aren't what they seem on the surface... in fact they are all brown. They look that way largely because the feathers contain nanometer-scale structures that break up incoming light waves, recombine and reflect them as rich, vibrant colors. Scientists think they have a technology that emulates this process to display pictures without chemicals or electrical power. Eventually, the technology could replace the displays now used on smartphones, tablets, and computer screens, with strikingly high definition."

How can a robot climb a smooth surface like glass without using suction cups, which are slow and inefficient? The secret lies in the intricate design of a gecko’s toes. Mark Cutkosky, a professor of mechanical engineering at Stanford University, developed the ‘Stickybot’ with the same type of dry adhesive that lets Geckos cling to the most improbable of surfaces. This ‘directional adhesive’ relies on millions of hairs on the ridges of a gecko’s foot with split ends that interact with the molecules of the climbing surface.

Woodpeckers have four reasons why they are still alive when they peck wood at 18 to 22 times per second. Their beaks are hard but elastic; their skull bones are spongy; there's very little room for liquid between the skull and brain, decreasing down on vibration and they have a special structure called the hyoid layer, attached to the woodpecker’s tongue to cut vibration. Scientists thought they could make machines and tools that can stand the shock from when they hit their beaks

Velcro
which is probably the most famous example of biomimicry, was invented in 1941 by Swiss engineer George de Mestral. Mestral first got the idea for this new material from the burrs that were often stuck to his dog’s hair. When he placed the burrs under a microscope he noticed tiny hooks at the end of each spine. These miniature hooks easily caught on to anything shaped like a loop like animal fur, clothing, or hair
