Hi All, 

I am Sanjeev, a PhD candidate and a lecturer. My PhD is in Human Resource Management, and at least one year away from  submission. After 15 years in the industry as a market researcher, strategy consultant, and a General Manager, I moved into an academic career in 2016. Currently, I work as a Course Coordinator/ workshop facilitator at Kaplan Business School for MBA core subject, strategic management. I live in Adelaide. 

The preliminary reading on action research is fascinating, and hopefully, this unit will provide me with the scientific rigour required to continuously improve the learnings experience of MBA students at my institution and take a planned approach to change.

I originally graduated from UWA in the mid 1980's (I know, I'm the old bloke)and every now and then decide to change careers and refresh my skills. I am a qualified independent company director (currently on two boards), elected member of local government and casual academic (economics, management) at Curtin Uni, WA. My passion is for good community outcomes, the arts, environment and educating. My wife and I have shared the excellent journey of bringing up two wonderful children, now both at university.
I came into tertiary teaching only a couple of years ago and absolutely love it. Time to get serious and learn how to do it properly. Although I also have two post-grad qualifications, I have never done a research degree so this may be a challenge for me. I have a BA degree in the Fine Arts & Visual Culture from Curtin//OUA and I am interested in teaching the Arts at a Tertiary level. 

 From this unit I would like to improve my Art Practice, teaching & adult learning through action research.

I am, however, thinking to continue studying in this field. 
My previous professional experience was in communication and marketing, where I spend over 10 years. In 2016 I decided to change my career and go back to study. That same year I  moved to China to teach English.  Throughout studies my focus has been on international students, especially the English language and academic skills. 
My resent position, at RMIT University as a Language Educator to international students, enables me to apply my learning. Furthermore, I am hoping that, with the permission of the RMIT university, I will be able to conduct an action research to successfully complete the requirements of this unit and submit a comprehensive proposal to the RMIT University. 
I look forward to interacting with you all on discussion board.

I currently live "out in the sticks", in central QLD. I tend bounce around the remote areas out here for work (Hopefully making to to Birdsville by the end of the year!). I am an Advanced Care Paramedic with an interest in working within a variety of remote and resource-scare environments (such as Winton or Palm Island).

Beyond my clinical career, I have recently found I enjoy mentoring and tutoring graduate and university students, and have been doing so for the past year. Along with this, I work as a community educator for first-aid, and general basic medical courses. 

As most of my experience in regards to teaching has been informal, (or really quite a casual approach), I've decided that a tertiary teaching course would certainly help me develop my skills. I hope that this unit, along with others, will enhance my knowledge, and provide me with the tools to required to ensure best teaching practices.

This is a shameless cut and paste from my introductory DB posting for my other unit this session (working smarter, not harder!)
For those who don't know me from previous units: I live in the far north of NSW and have a varied work life.  I'm a lawyer, forensic scientist and expert witness and teach in the Law School too (both undergraduate and post-graduate courses).  I also currently have a Project Officer role - developing online modules to encourage engagement and retention of first year law students.  So adding my final two units here to the mix, that's me with no social life for a few months.  But I know it will be worth it.  I loved the previous two units and learnt so much.  I'm really looking forward to continuing my studies.

I am living the vida loca - I am one year into full-time PhD (Env Eng) at University of Newcastle, researching Geodesign involving geospatial/mine remediation/Sustainable Development Goals/urban design/education/gaming. I intend to be finished in 2021.

Thanks directly to this Grad Cert that I have "transformed" my thesis to include education and I have since taken up the very practical TAFE TAE40116 Training & Assessment also. I hope to be finished Grad Cert and TAE by June 2019

I love the practical, face-to-face aspect of VET training and the diversity of people doing the course. I am constantly forced out of my comfort zone of strategies and research, while being encouraged to create fun and interesting learning materials on a range of topics including my own.

While crazy in terms of family/study/life balance (I have 3 adult kids and two dogs), this is the most rewarding time of my life (aside from being a mother to humans and dogs). I have finally found my schtick after many careers. I intend to continue with education somehow (at my age of 60) and want to pursue training and the development of educational materials and games in my focus areas of Sustainability, Environment & Heritage.

Happy to meet with you all and looking forward to interacting on line. I hope to do so today 23/11.

About me: I am currently employed as a teaching/research academic at Curtin University, in the health sciences. My specific areas of research and teaching are in exercise physiology and cardiovascular health. I have completed my PhD in 2013, and since being employed in a teaching/research role I have found myself with a disproportionate load towards teaching vs. research so this unit is inspiring in getting back onto the proverbial horse with some research-focus that can be combined with teaching. This time of year with the uni semester coming to a close makes for a challenging balance (hence my tardiness). I am especially looking forward to the workshop assignment: I have been wanting to involve myself more in our school's annual teaching and learning forum, and this opportunity will be a step in the right direction!
