Your generosity with funding our grant made this very important science standard an exciting one to learn about with all fifth graders. Each class spent two hours with the MN Science Museum specialists learning about Simple Machines and their use in our world. Engaging "hands on" stations challenged the students to understand that Simple Machines are meant for us to "work smarter - not harder". Students learned to also measure their work load in Newtons using the Spring Scale and discuss the possible advantages of the simple machine. Thank you for continuing to support our students at Waseca Intermediate School.
Deb Vetter
Waseca Intermediate School Media Director

We learned so much and it was very fun with the hands on activities. Some of the things we learned were how a pulley changes the direction of force. Also we learned how a fulcrum is the balance point and when you move the heavier object closer to the fulcrum it will balance. Thank you for giving us the money so the Minnesota Science Museum could come to the Waseca Intermediate School.
From Tauston Rupe and Max Howard
Waseca Intermediate School

Thank you, WIS PTO, for funding the MN Science Museum's visit to our school. Thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to learn about simple machines. We learned that pulleys reverse the force by going in the opposite direction given. We also learned that 1 Newton equals 100 grams. We found out that a wheel rolls to reduce friction.
Thank you so much for giving us the money for the MN Science Museum to come to our school and teach us about simple machines. We thought it was very interesting and it was an amazing opportunity for us to learn about simple machines.
Sincerely, Carson Ohnstad, and Sophia Rothbauer
Waseca Intermediate School.

Thank you, WIS PTO, for giving us the grant money so that the Minnesota Science Museum could come to work with us at WIS. We learned that a Spring scale measures in Newtons and grams. We learned that the fulcrum is the balancing point in a lever. We enjoyed learning about the fulcrum and inclined plane.
Thank you once again for your funding.
Joseph Mixteco Perez
Katlyn McMurphy
5th Grade students at WIS
