The benefits that social behavior gives as a whole to living things is that its easier to complete many tasks if you just communicate. Honestly you can't

do everything by yourself, and it goes the same for other animals too, so social interaction is a very important thing to have with other organisms. Things like your shelter, food, clothes, etc wouldn't be here if we didn't have social interactions with people. Social behaviors can also be bad, but for the most part just without communication, we would honestly have nothing.

The easier way to eat:

Studies have shown that for other animals, hunting in a pack is a much better, safe, and easier way to eat. Animals that hunt in a pack may fight over food sometimes, but to even find the meal was easier because they went in a group, communicated with each other and looked. Going solo to find food in the wild may not be such a bad thing sometimes, but to be safer from predators and other things like getting lost you should always hunt in a pack. This behavior has become an adaptation to many predators like wolves, so that they can have a easier, more successful way of eating.

Even with humans, being in groups of people late at night or other things is a good way of having some sort of protection and safety. Also, a lot of species, like schools of fish travel in groups so they are safe from predators using highly coordinated group movements. They move in a coordinated way as if they were all connected with one another, creating confusion for the predator so they can't just focus on on individual in the group. This has become an adaptation to many preys, so that they can protect each others lives through this social interaction.
