The film was inspired by the experiences of Weerasethakul's parents, who were both doctors in Khon Kaen, a city in northeastern Thailand. The film is structured in two parts, each following a different character and time period. The first part tells the story of Dr. Toey, a young doctor who works at a rural hospital. As she goes about her daily routine, she reflects on her past relationships and her hopes for the future. The second part tells the story of Dr. Nohng, who worked at the same hospital during the 1970s. As he recounts his experiences, he reveals the hidden history of the hospital and the surrounding area.

"Mysterious Object at Noon" is a Thai film directed by Apichatpong Weerasethakul. The film is a blend of documentary and fiction. It begins with a traveling filmmaker who starts a storytelling experiment, asking people to contribute to a collective narrative. Each participant adds their own twists and turns to the evolving story, creating a surreal and unpredictable narrative that weaves through the diverse landscapes and lives of Thailand. As the story unfolds, it becomes a reflection on the power of storytelling and the way in which narratives shape our understanding of reality. The film blurs the lines between fact and fiction, challenging conventional storytelling and offering a glimpse into the rich tapestry of Thai culture.

A little bird with big eyes, it's a nighttime predator that may attack humans. A 2007 sighting suggested a male and female were the last pair. Despite no evidence, Nok Phii may be a mythological creature.
PERIPHERY OF THE NIGHT an Exhibition

The show's 20+ works in dark rooms use projection media and gadgets to inspire creativity. Switch between videos in partial wakefulness or sleep, attracted by their light and dark plays and piercing soundtrack. Artist explores nighttime "periphery". Night's edge: a strange moment near day.

To locate odd beauty—sometimes amusing or disturbing—in daily life, we must test the artist's keen and sensitive attention to his immediate circle and living environment. Empathy that breaks down self-and-other barriers is shown in his "video journals," made with a little camera he always carries. We meet his animal and human pals. Sakda Kaewbuadee and Jenjira Pongpas-Widner barely resembled imaginary characters in his films.

Several videos illustrate Thailand's political problems and his incomparable kindness to these creatures. Beyond power and the army, Apichatpong Weerasethakul's political gesture is based on his perceptual question: the camera may illuminate an invisible community by skimming reality's network of forces between people, objects, and species. A revelation process combines technical and spiritual factors to build our inner cinema: the artist calls the human spirit a “projection apparatus”. The moving picture explores and grows the invisible, creating a delicate shelter of secret connections that must be defended from outside aggressions. Exhibition video Our bodies guard this virtual memory by cycling between dreams to exchange and keep their information.

Periphery of the Night takes us on dreamlike journeys via a variety of rhythms and intensities, sometimes far from his feature films' tranquilly and languor. Backlighting, suspended projections, and holographic filters change our biological clock to new cadences as suddenly and discreetly as a curtain fades, a breeze through the trees, or the sun shifts across the horizon.
