This also shows how concerned Tom was towards Doug.

But, in this quote the author shows us what he likes and how nature affects him. Father explains how the clouds in the sky and the trees seemed to him by expressing his gesture.

I chose this quote because it allows  the reader to see his fear of being someone else. At first i thought he was in immediate danger, from like, you know. "The stranger laughing in the woods" but this stranger truly symbolises his reluctance, and fear of becoming someone else, who his father is quietly pushing him to be.
