Today, during my work experience, I met lots of people in the workplace, including one employee who took the time to explain their role to me. They spoke about their work in regulatory law, corporate law, and litigation, and I learned how each area plays an important role in helping businesses follow the law, manage contracts, and deal with legal disputes. They also shared their past job experiences and what high school was like for them, which helped me understand the different paths people take to get into law. It was interesting to hear how varied their journey was and how much they’ve learned over time.

Today, I focused on reviewing and updating several internal policies that were outdated and no longer aligned with current practices. I looked at three documents, carefully going through each to ensure the language was clear with current standards. This involved correcting outdated procedures and making sure everything reflected how teams operate. I consulted with a few departments to confirm details and gather feedback, which helped clarify a few grey areas. Once the edits were complete, I summarised the key points. It was a detailed and focused day, and it reinforced the importance of keeping our documentation up to date to support clarity and consistency across the organisation.

Today during my work experience, I was introduced to the litigation team and had the chance to speak with several people about their roles and responsibilities. It was really interesting to hear how they each contribute to different parts of a case and what a typical day looks like for them. My main task was to read through a witness statement and review a set of chat messages related to the case. I highlighted key information from both, focusing on anything that might be relevant or important for building the case. This gave me a better understanding of how detailed and careful you have to be when working with legal documents.

Today, I continued the work from yesterday by reviewing additional chat messages connected to the case, focusing particularly on older exchanges that could provide context or support key points in the witness statement. I paid close attention to patterns, tone, and any discrepancies that might be useful in shaping the legal strategy. After completing my review, I had a follow up discussion with the head of litigation, where we went over my observations and they provided further insight into the case’s background and how this information might be used. This helped me see how each small detail contributes to the broader picture and reinforced the importance of accuracy and context in legal analysis.
