What impression do you have of the people in the picture from the expressions on their faces ?

I think that these people are part of the school band and are playing different musical instrument as a team to create a piece of music . They look determined, which gives me an impression that they are rehearsing for a performance or playing for their conductor. The musical notes in front of them act as a guide for them to play the instrument besides the guidance from the conductor.

Although I always wanted to play a musical instrument, I do not think that I would be able to do so as I do not have time to commit in learning the musical instrument. I barely have time for myself to revise the subjects I am learning in school, thus I do not think that I should take up a music class at the moment.

Furthermore, as a Madrasah student, I am not exposed to such activities as we do not have music as part of our CCA nor do we have an official school band. However, we have something similar to having a performance by the school band which is a performance of Nasyeed by students of different classes. These students will perform different Islamic songs in Arabic. Some students will be playing an instrument which is somehow similar to a drum while the others will sing the song together as a team.

Tell me about a concert you attended, or listened to on television or radio

I've never attended a concert, although I almost did this year. A South Korean boy band called EXO came to Singapore early March and held their concert at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. The concert named The Elyxion is their fourth tour and Singapore was their fourth stop for this tour. The ticket for the front seat costs $305 and as I wasn't able to save a big sum of money to be spent on the ticket, I was not able to join my sister to go to the concert. However. I went to the merchandise booth that was put up before the concert started, hoping that I am able to get one of their merchandises but unfortunately everything was sold out before I reached the counter after queuing for two hours. I could hear them rehearsing and doing sound checks. My sister managed to take a lot of videos of their performances during the concert to be kept as memories.

However, I've watched a lot of such performances on television. As a k-pop fan, I do look forward to the annual biggest award show for the k-pop entertainment called MAMA which is always held at the end of the year. Different bands and singers will perform as well as receive the awards they deserve.

The last time I really enjoyed the award show was in 2015. A korean boy band I stan, BigBang, performed their last performance there before the members started enlisting in the military last year. They really did a wonderful performance and won great awards. They are one of the legendary korean groups and people really enjoyed their great performance.

There was one korean girl group called 2NE1, which just disbanded last year, did a surprise for their fans after being on hiatus for a long period of time as the group appeared together and performed. Initially, only one member was supposed to perform her new song but the whole group appeared.

This was the last time I really enjoyed the award show as the groups I like are no longer available to perform due to different reasons. The award show is not doing a good job in distributing the awards to the bands too, causing a great decrease in the watching rate.

Watching such performances is one of the ways for me to relieve stress from studies. I enjoy watching performances with good choreography and wonderful vocals of the singers. It is also how I spend my leisure time. My passion in music is strong and I really enjoy listening to music, especially the ballad ones as they help me feel calm as the songs do not sound noisy.

Some people say it's better for children to study hard than to spend a lot of time learning to play a musical instrument. What is your opinion ?

In my opinion, I really think that it depends on the individual. If one is really good in studies, then he or she should really study hard in order to achieve what they want to achieve. If one is doing better in playing musical instrument and have the passion to do so, then he or she should not be prevented to do what he or she really likes. Children should not be controlled to do what they want as their future lie in their hands. If what they are doing are good for their future, parents and the people around them should give their support and encourage them instead of preventing them from doing what they are doing
Playing a musical instrument is not something bad that can corrupt a society or one's future. With that, it doesn't really matter if a child spends a lot of time learning to play a musical instrument. Moreover, learning to play a musical instrument might be a requirement in the future as the normal jobs are often taken up by other successful and fully educated people.

Learning to play a musical instrument has many advantages such as going to such classes allows one to interact with other people who join the class. Playing a musical instrument also helps to improve one's creativity by learning to play different notes of the musical instrument and also explore to make up a new note.

The people look too engrossed in using their phones that they seem to be unaware with their surrounding. This happens a lot these days as where people do not look at where they are walking, instead they just stare down on their screens and are too engrossed with their mobile phones. Such action can cause accident as people might hit one another when they are using their phones while walking. This action should be stopped, and people should have their own initiative to stop using their phones when walking in order to stop these accidents from happening.

The time when I really need to use my phone is during the examination period. It's irony how I'm not supposed to use my phone during that period and focus on my revision, but it is one of the times when I really need to use my phone. It is the times when my friends will start bombarding me with questions and I have to help them with it. I find helping people help me a lot with my revision too despite not having enough time for myself. My friends will sometimes ask me questions that are out of the box and I will have to find the answers for them, and I will remeber it for myself too.

Other than just helping my friends with the topics or subjects that they do not understand, I also need to use my phone to accompany my friend who would stay up late to do some revision. It might seem like we are wasting time chatting when we can revise more that time instead, but it is something that I enjoy doing. It somehow motivates me to study harder to achieve success with my frienda and not to be left behind or leave anyone behind. I always look forward to studying at night to have a nice chat with my friend.

I do not think that our lives would be better without mobile phones. With the advanced country we are living in, mobile phones is one of the most important gadgets in people's lives. We need phones for different purposes and they have helped us a lot in life.

The first and main purpose of having mobile phones is for communication. We are able to communicate with one another in the same country or out of country through applications like 'Whatsapp' and 'Skype'. We are not only able to text or call them like those we have in the past, but we are also able to see their faces through video calls. Social media like Instagram and Twitter also help to connect people across the world.

With the advancement of technology, people now obtain latest news and updates from the internet instead of waiting to listen to the news on the radio or television at a certain timing. News from the internet are obtained faster and people nowadays rarely depend on the radio or television for latest news.

Mobile phones also provide us with a lot of information that are needed when have the access to the internet. Mobile phones are much smaller than laptops or even iPads, thus they are easy to be carried around. People always have their mobile phones with them for information such as the GPS that can be installed in the phone to find direction to a certain destination.

With this, I don't think that our lives will be better without mobile phones.

Do you like shopping in markets like the one in the picture ? Why, or why not ?

Honestly, I do not like shopping in markets like the one in the picture as at some parts of the markets are wet and I find it really disgusting and dirty. I will have trouble walking and I will try my best not to slip on the wet floors. At some parts of market are also smelly with the items sold at those areas such as beef and spices. The raw meat or beef have some weird smell which I dislike. At these markets, there are often litters everywhere, which make me really uncomfortable to go shopping in such places.

I used to follow my mom to go shopping in such markets when I was young and would look forward to going to a toy shop located at the end of the market and would beg my mom to buy me something there. At that time, I didn't really mind about the wet floor and weird smell in the market as I was too young to be aware of these things.

The shopping I have had recently was on 27 January. I went out with my other siblings before my brother flew off to Kuwait to continue his studies. We went to Bugis to spend time together and went shopping. We went to the Vans outlet at the Bugis Junction to buy my sister a shoe, but unfortunately her size for the shoe she wanted was not available and my brother could not buy her the shoe. After that we went to The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf which is located at level 1 of Bugis Plus to buy ourselves drinks to quench our thirst. We then went to a famous korean restaurant, Jinjja Chicken, to let my brother taste the food sold there before leaving Singapore. After filling up our stomach with the delicious korean food, we walked back to Bugis Plus to buy ourselves a dessert from Kane Mochi and ate the ice cream sold there. We then went to Wardah Books as I have promised my brother to buy him a book there.

I followed them out despite the amount of homework I got for that weekend and we went back home at 6 in the afternoon. It was a fast yet enjoyable shopping.

Something I realise about myself is that I don't enjoy long shopping and do not try every clothes or shoes in the shop, just like how a typical girl would do. I find it really troublesome for the staff as they will have to clean up the mess a customer creates and thus, I rarely try every piece of items sold at a shop. I will make sure that I know what I want to buy before trying it on and will immediately make the payment afterwards. Shoppings with me and my siblings are always a fast process, as we tend to spend more time sitting down to eat and have a chat with each other rather than walking around to shop.

'In the future, we will not need shops or markers because most shopping will be done online.' What are your views ?

I do agree with this statement to a certain extent. Yes, with the advancement of technology and lifestyle, a lot of people do their shopping online as it is so much easier than having to go out to do their shoppings at shops. Moreover, people nowadays tend to buy things available out of the country and thus it requires them to buy the items online.

I am one of those who enjoy buying things online. One of the things that I often buy online is merchandises of my favourite korean boy band and the merchandises are always available in Korea unless they bring it to Singapore just like they did before the concert. I buy them online from twitter through a group order done by a fansite. Some of the stuffs sold there are much cheaper than those sold in Singapore after being shipped in. For instance, I bought one of their albums for $18 and managed to choose the photocard and poster of the member I want, but my friend bought it from a shop in Singapore at $26 and didn't get to choose the photocard and poster as it is packed and sold in that way.

However, there are some items that are better to be bought from shops such as clothes. We are able to check for the quality of the clothes when we buy them from shops, which we are not able to do if we buy them online. Shops that sell food and drinks are still required to have as such things are not often bought online, or it doesn't even happen.

With this, we still need to shops in the future although many shoppings are done online.

The floor is usually wet and dirty caused the soles of the shoes, making me feel uncomfortable while walking there. The smell of the raw meat sold there is smelly too and I dislike it. I may sound like a fussy person for disliking to go to such markets, but i am actually a person who dislikes going out so often. I prefer staying at home as I know that it is always clean and I am very comfortable to be at home. I wouldn't like it if my mother or aunty asks me out to Pasar Geylang after shopping for Hari Raya clothings, but I could not say no either so I had to follow them around and endure the suffer I am facing myself.

However, when I was young, I used to follow my mother to a market located near my house. I did not complain as I was not aware of my surroundings and I always looked forward to going to a shop that sells toys and stationeries at the end of the market. I would beg my mother to buy me one of the toys before going home and my mother would do it for me.
