In my perspective, velcro is a great invention that was inspired by nature! The hook-and-loop fastener was designed based on the burr plant's ability to stick to clothing or fur. I love how Velcro simplifies our lives by eliminating the need for buttons, zippers, or laces. Its easy-to-use design makes it ideal for children, elderly people, or anyone who struggles with manual dexterity. Velcro is also very versatile and can be used in various applications such as clothing, shoes, bags, or medical devices. It offers a secure yet flexible grip that adapts to different materials and surfaces. The durability of Velcro is impressive, and it can withstand repeated use and washing without losing its effectiveness. It's a reliable solution for sports equipment, outdoor gear, or industrial products. Velcro is also an eco-friendly alternative to traditional fasteners as it reduces waste by allowing items to be reused or repaired easily. Overall, Velcro is a brilliant invention that has revolutionized the way we fasten things. Its inspiration from nature shows how solutions to everyday problems can be found in the natural world.

I feel that this product must have be hard to invent, since this life form isn't easy to find at first sight. Because of this invention, us humans can use glue more freely and more safe.

🦟 Inspired by: Mosquito proboscis
📍 Where: India & Japan
🎯 Innovation/function: Less painful needle
✏️ Who: M K Ramasubramanian, O M Barham and V Swaminathan

The mosquitos have evolved with us to be extremely efficient and sneaky about sucking our blood and have adopted a variety of tools, both physical and chemical, used to dull our ever-powerful senses. The mosquito's proboscis is made of multiple different needles each with its varied use so that the piercing is not noticeable at all. Researchers in 2008, mimicking the mosquito, developed a 3 prong needle that significantly reduced the pain caused by needle insertion. The methodology is improving and science is getting ever closer to mimicking those pesky bugs in a good way. I think this design is pretty smart and makes our human life more convenient, it can help humans to feel less pain when they are getting an injection. It might also help kids to feel less afraid of injections.

The nautilus' shell was used as a reference to build the stairs. In the middle ages, the king would have their palace's staircases made into a design of a nautilus' shell. This invention is both used for aesthetic purposes and also a good tool of defense. Since the high ground would give them an advantage when the enemy is attacking from down. By using this design in the staircases, the defending army would easily be able to throw rocks or shoot arrows down. Also climbing the stairs would be very confusing since the attacker would need to spin in circles, but the defender just need to wait there.
