Ricky is being portrayed as the 'gangsta' kid. Like a gangster, he vandalises, steals, and commits all sorts of other petty crimes that gangsters and troubled youth are known to commit. Bella is being portrayed as that loving aunt, that's maybe a bit too affectionate, and often tries to make situations better by cracking jokes that might offend some people. One great example of this is when she first meets Ricky, and tries to ease the tension of the situation by cracking a 'joke' which, when you take a closer look at it, you can straightaway see why it might offend some people.

'Whoo! You're a big fella! Who ate the guy who ate all the pies, eh?'

Uncle Hec meanwhile, is being portrayed as that mysterious, quiet, creepy stranger who kids are often warned not to go near. He is also being portrayed as though he is quite dangerous, and he is someone that you should not try to talk to. -L.N

By assuming Uncle Hec is a dangerous stranger who shouldn't be approached, it creates a feeling of suspicion and distrust surrounding him. This can in turn lead to people choosing not to hang out around him, or staying a good distance away from him whenever he approaches, or sometimes even both. -L.N
