I am Kobe Nhean B. Reyes, but most of my classmates refer to me as "Ian" since I have classmates with similar sounding names, like cody and hovy, and so to avoid confusion, I just decided to settle on Ian, and the nickname has honestly been growing on me. I am currently 16 years old turning 17 this december 29 :)

I am currently enrolled at Ateneo de Davao Senior High School as a Grade 12 Top 500 scholar in the ABM strand. Since I was lucky enough to pass the ASHQET exam, to this day it still feels unreal studying at one of the big 4 schools in the Philippines!

Back in SY 2024-2025 I was fortunate enough to be put into 11-Holland, I met so much cool classmates and it didn't take long before we all grew close with one another, we may have had ups and downs but what's important is that we still push through despite setbacks as a class. I was also lucky enough to be the Class Representative of 11-Holland. Currently though we still haven't had our elections this school year, but I hope for a good line up of responsible charismatic officers for 12-Arrowsmith

I made it to Regionals in Journalism!

Representing the entirety of Davao as a news anchor in the TV Broadcasting Category put a lot of pressure on me to win, especially since I was bringing Ateneo's name as well. I made it through the Divisions Schools Press Conference earning a spot in the regionals. Though the training was hard and rough, in the end it was all worth it since I truly am interested in truthful journalism, as well as being able to spend these difficult trainings with such amazing teamates

I was an Ambassador for my City in an international competition!

Last year WWF held a we love cities international contest, and my hometown (Tagum city) was lucky enough to be chosen to compete. And I was truly lucky being chosen as one of the ambassadors showcasing my city's beauty, essentially being shown all over Tagum, in every public school, facebook posts, and so on. It was a great experience me, Ate joanna and yesha (the other two ambassadors) have history together as journalism nationals qualifiers, we're also great friends :D

My Hobby

I'm a part of ADDU SHS' football club, at first it was honestly not my sport but the more I played the more I realized how fun football can be. I never really knew how to play football until i made it through the try outs in the SHS club, I met so many cool friends along the way too, football made me realize that you don't have to be proficient in something in order to have fun, you simply have to enjoy it and take interest.

I like steak but it's too expensive, I like lasagna too but its difficult to make, I like smoked brisket but it takes too much time to cook. These realizations about my favorite foods honestly gave me a deeper look into life in general, nothing is perfect, at the end of the day everything has ups and downs, but its those ups and downs that we learn to love in order to appreciate something for what it is, not for what it could be.

I LOVE NUTSSSS!! i like boiled shelled peanuts the most, something about cracking the outer shell in order to gain access to the savory insides gives me a sense of accomplishment when eating boiled peanuts, I like it :D

It sounds corny but I honestly try to love everything around me, EXCEPT LLAOLLAO, I find it overrated, though it is tasty, offers tons of combinations of toppings according to your liking, and has a reasonable price, its eh at most

Dear Future Me,

HALLOOO, I hope you're doing well, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. I know life’s probably been throwing a bunch of things at you, pero I also know how strong you've always tried to be. Remember those late nights na nag-struggle ka sa schoolwork, org tasks, deadlines, and still tried to show up for others? Grabe ka. You did good.

Sana hindi mo nakalimutan kung bakit ka nagsimula. Sa Ateneo, you wanted more than just awards, you wanted to lead with purpose, serve your community, and be someone people could count on. Naabot mo na ba ‘yan? Or at least, padulong na ka? Either way, proud ko nimo.

Kung napagod ka na, okay ra. Take a breath. Dili man sayon ang tanan. Pero ayaw kalimot, ang bata nga version nimo HAHAHAHAHA, the one writing this letter, had so much fire and hope in his heart. He believed in you. I believe in you.

Keep going, pero don’t forget to rest. Padayon, future self. Ayaw kalimot nga bisan unsa pa’y maabot nimo, stay humble, stay kind, stay grounded.

Adolesence

High school became my peak of growth and self-discovery, I consistently won pageantry competitions, which made me well-known in my city. My skills in TV broadcasting and journalism took me to nationals on my first attempt, and being chosen as my city’s ambassador in the WWF’s We Love Cities competition fueled my passion for advocacy. This was also the stage where I found love, genuine friendships, and a deeper sense of who I truly am.

Yes, Personal Development was definitely helpful for me. It gave me the chance to slow down and actually reflect on who I am, what I value, and what kind of person I want to become. I learned to understand my strengths and weaknesses better, especially in how I handle emotions and make decisions. It also helped me become more aware of my goals and how I can improve myself, not just academically, but as a person overall.

What were your key takeaways from the subject?

One of my biggest takeaways is that self-awareness is the first step to real growth. You can’t really improve or connect with others if you don’t understand yourself first. I also realized how important emotional intelligence and healthy communication are, especially in managing relationships and stress. Personal Development taught me that growth doesn’t happen overnight, it’s something you work on every day through small actions and honest reflection.

What two topics were your favorites and why?

My favorite topics were Personal and Social Relationships and Challenges of Adolescents. I liked the first one because it made me see how important genuine connections are and how the people around us influence our mindset and behavior. The second topic, about the challenges of adolescence, felt really relatable because it helped me understand that what I’m going through is normal and part of growing up. Both topics made me feel more grounded and aware of how I deal with myself and others.
