For my summer reading project, I chose to read Fever 1793. This book was A LOT better than I expected. It was historically accurate but also engaging. Not only did it include suspense, but it had a slight amount of action as well.

I did not enjoy it as much as the original series, but still thought the drawings were well done and the plot was just like the book.

My mom had recommended this book after reading my summer book review. She said it was a creative and funny way of putting the rules of grammar into a book. At first I was reluctant, I mean who wants to read about grammar? But in the end, I had a couple of good laughs and was able to realize how much mistakes I was making when not only writing but TALKING!

I have read ALL of Sarah J. Maas's books and she is probably my most favorite author in the universe. Not only do I love that her writing features female heroines, but that they are strong and independent. So of course I was excited when A Court of Thorns and Roses book two came out. I was eager to read it and was not let down, but unfortunately I was left on a cliffhanger. I would recommend this book for all Sarah J. Maas lovers and just mature readers in general.

A Life Too Short is a biography written about a German goalkeeper who decided to take his own life. His friend, and author, Ronald Reng goes into depth about the darkness that plagued Robert and what ultimately made him decide to leave his wife and child. I would recommend this book to all soccer lovers. Not only does it explain the pressures put on a goalkeeper, but it helps others to get inside the mind of a depressive and what they may be going through.

For my book project, I decided to choose a novel written by the same author as Fever 1793 (since I enjoyed it so much). Chains was a very good read and taught me more about the Revolutionary War through a slave's eyes. I was able to learn the hardships Isabel and her sister suffered as well as being able to read just a good novel. I really liked the characters and how they grew and developed throughout the story.

Beauty Queens was the perfect combination of humor, action, and mystery. Libba Bray makes you become more and more attached to the characters as the story continues on. They are all uniquely different and that is what makes it so interesting when they have to survive on the island together. I mean, a plane load of beauty queens crashed on an island? How much more interesting can it get?

After hearing about the Lunar Chronicles series, that my sister had read, I was really interested in checking out another one of Marissa Meyer's books. I really liked how it was a twist off of the Alice in Wonderland kind of story. What was even more enjoyable was that I was able to get a new perspective from another big character, the Queen of Hearts. This story takes place before and is able to give me a good insight to what could have really turned her into who she was.

This is the second book in the An Ember in the Ashes series. I really enjoyed the character development throughout the books and how it ended in a different way then the average book. Having Elias be trapped in the Forest, helping the dead move on but still being able to see Laia, makes me happy yet sad at the same time. Sometimes, that is the key to a good book.

Pretties was the second book in the Uglies series by Scott Westerfeld. I wouldn't say that the first was one of the best books I had read before, but it ended on a cliff hanger which really prompted me to read the second. It was definitely NOT how I expected it nor did it prompt me to read the spin off fourth novel.
