Spirit as Unity

In the passage, Hauser discusses how the Holy Spirit inspires unity. He mainly focuses on unity caused by love. To be truly "united", whether it be as a family, as a Church community, or the Trinity, love is a very important component. Traditionally, we see the Holy Spirit as the unifying portion of the Trinity. We believe that the Spirit connects God to Son. But, the Spirit works outside of the Trinity just like it works inside of the Trinity. True union will help not only the relationship between the people or group grow stronger, but their relationship with God will be strengthened too. 1 Jn 4:7-8, 12-13 reads, "No one has ever seen God; but as long as we love one another God will live in us and his love will be complete in us because he lets us share his spirit." This quote expresses the unity thatcahould be felt if your relationship with God is strong. When we share in God's love for his people, we are united with him. If we love eachother, we inturn love God. The Spirit creates and emphasizes the bonds between God's people.

Spirit as Enabler

In the passage, Hauser disscusses how the Holy Spirit not only gives us the tools or gifts to bring the community closer to God, but also gives courage to use those gifts as soliders of Christ.

Acts 2:4 is a perfect example of the Holy Spirit as an enabler because it illustrated the use of the Holy Spirit "All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in tongues because the spirit enabled them" this passage illustrates the use of the Holy Spirit as an enabler because it not only granted the apostles the gift of speaking in tongues, but also gave them the courage to use these gifts enlighten and guide their people closer to God.

The enabler aspect of the Holy Spirit also gives zeal and strengthens the hearts of those who are are suffering or poor. The Holy Spirit gives them courage and helps them stay away from temptation.

In summery the holy spiritual as an enabler allows us not only to preform works of God, but also have courage to use them.

Spirit as Enlightener

In the passage, the Spirit as Enlightner is broken up into two divisions (enlightenment and guidance) that ultimately work together. To begin, the Spirt enables individuals to recognize God and accept and understand the teachings connected with this faith. This understanding can only be done with the spirit of God. "An unspiritual person is one who does not accept anything of the Spirit of God; he sees it all as nonsense; it can only be understood by means of the spirit." (1 Cor. 2:4-14)

The spirit also acts as a guide. The spirit directs us to lead moral lives. We are no longer guided by solely external laws, but instead, we are guided by the laws in our hearts given to us by the spirit. The reason this is because "the law has no power to free from selfishness and sin; only the spirit can to that." Furthermore, the spirit is what guides the heads of our churches to lead the entire community. It is what also guides us to unity and to love one another.

Ultimately, as the enlightener, the Spirit helps us understand and guide us towards God's will.
